Which monitor?
I registered for this $220 video monitor b/c everyone says I "must" have it -
But the more I think about it, right now, we're using one floor of the house.........- Can this video monotir thing move around w/ me like the other ones do, like if we're outside on the patio or something?
Or is it a total waste of $$ for us, and should I register for something different?
Any sugeestions?

Re: Which monitor?
we have the summer video monitor, maybe this is the one you are talking about???? (I dont remember how much it was, I think around $200) and yes, its portable. It comes with a handheld monitor that you can carry around with you
If I know I am going to be at my moms house all day I bring it with me to set up in a room when she naps. Image Attachment(s):

This one is the BEST! I have it for DD #1 and will get another one for DC #2.

that is probably very similar to the summer handheld, does it have night vision too?
the one denise showed you is the most common, IMO, it's the one we have, and it's great, but doesn't have the "remote controlled crib soother" - i have no idea what that is actually

Re: Which monitor?
I got the Summer video monitor- for $219. It's portable, so I like I can take it with me to our parents. etc.-- and not worry about it.
I also like the idea that I can look on the monitor and maybe not get out of bed to check on the baby.
I live in a 2BR apt-- so, the sound wasn't really the issue-- it's more about the seeing. Plus, we aren't living here forever.

Re: Which monitor?
the summer video one is great I just bought the extra camera for it because we have DD #2 on he way and you can use 2 cameras with it. Kohls online has it reduced and if you use the webcodes its a pretty good deal.. on parenting under one of the chats they have the webcodes.. theres 2
And yes you can take it outside, I do all the time.. its got a pretty long range before it get staticy

Re: Which monitor?
I originally registered for the Summer Video Monitor. We ended up switching to a Sony Sound Monitor.
DH's physician colleagues with young children all seemed to have gotten the sound monitor only and they use webcams to see the babies on the computer.

Re: Which monitor?
This is the one we have and I swear by it. It also has a bigger screen then the white one posted above.
Summer Handheld Video Monitor
It doesn't matter if you are only on one floor of a house - you can use this when the baby is taking a nap to see when they get up - and if they are crying -- you can see if they are faking (at least that's what I look for with my DS
