Ovulation question

My cycles are very regular- 28 days. That being said, I should ovulate on CD14. I used an OPK this month and started testing this past Sunday. I haven't gotten a reading yet telling me I O'd. With the "typical" cycle I have, is it possible I could O later that CD14ish. Could I really O on say CD20?

Re: Ovulation question

ohhhh yes it is.

I thought I was "typical" too. This month using my first OPK...I did not O until CD19.

So it's very possible. The littlest thing can throw your body off, I have no idea what threw me off this month, but I think it might have been the stress.

I thought i was normal too and AF didn't show until CD34, which in my life has never happened.

so hang in there Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ovulation question

Thanks ladies! I started testing on CD11, which is when the instructions said to start and I test around 6:15-6:30 when I get in from work. Do you think I should buy another kit and test into next week if I don't get anything by Sunday? Sunday will be CD18

Re: Ovulation question

if you O late - AF should be late the number of days past "typical O date".

For example:

if you O on CD14, AF should arrive 14 days later on CD28.

but,

if you O on CD 20, AF should still arrive 14 days later on CD 34.

A typical cycle consists of a 14 day proliferative stage (from AF to O) and a 14 day luteal phase (O to AF's arrival)

For the proper amount of time for implantation to take place, one needs to have at least a 12 day luteal phase... so keep track of that. If it's short - the GYN should be informed that you've been keeping track of it and he/she can confirm it's necessary to take anything to lengthen the LP (luteal phase)

Re: Ovulation question

I would buy another kit and see what happens... also maybe try testing earlier too... like at work around 4pm. Make sure you are "holding" for at least 3 hours and not drinking too much (if anything).

Re: Ovulation question

Thank you for the info. I never thought to watch my LP- this is our first month and I am still learning. I think I am going to keep testing until I get a surge. Hopefully I will, and then I will watch for AF ( or hopefully not) and note my LP. I do hold it for 4 hours and I stop drinking. I am trying so hard Chat Icon
