I am very sorry your first IVF failed! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't know how to explain it to you, I just do it...I just go on. After many failed IUI"s and 3 m/c's, those were the hardest to decide to go on.

I pray alot, sometimes it gives me peace and other times I just cry and grieve.

I am so sorry Chat Icon I know it hurts and is so hard. My 2nd IUi didn't work. I know its so hard after going through such a difficult path, procedure, the emotional roller coaster that it all is, then the wait, and then the results. My thoughts are with you, you know that. Your question was how do you do it? My answer is I don't know since I am still going through it. My 1st IVF did not work either and the pain is unbearable, something I cannot even describe. At first I was much worse than I am right now. I am not saying I am any better at this point, I am just dealing with it a little better because I have no choice but to go on living. I have to say that every moment is agony, and I have to take the days minute by minute, take everything slow and with a grain of salt. It does help that I have an appointment with my doctor to go over possible reasons. But I know that that meeting is not going to bring any miraculous answers. I just know that I have to keep on going on if I do want another chance at a baby. Deep down I know that there is a chance that it may never happen for us but I know I have to keep on trying.

Re: How do you do it?

How do I do it...I keep thinking about the possibility of actually having a child. That's the only thing that keeps me going.
Financially, we are very lucky as insurance covers most of our cycles. Honestly, I would have had to accept being childless a year ago if it weren't for insurance.
Emotionally, it's a struggle. I've been doing this for five years now and each failed cycle is just almost as upsetting as the first. You do learn to develop a bit of a shell though and try not to have it hurt as much.

And for ASecretTTCer, I can only pray that you get your BFP before you ever have to go through the emotional stress of an injectable IUI and/or IVF.
When you have been trying for years to get PG, there is no Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy that will guide your response. There is no book that will help you get through it. It's all about personal strength and fortitude. It's about having a good long cry and then getting up the next day and figuring out what you are going to do next. It's about wanting that baby so bad you will do whatever it takes to get it.
