Explain what a flutter is please!
I am just shy of 16 weeks & want to know when I will start feeling the baby. My friends have told me that you feel 'flutters' first - what is that exactly?
When do you start feeling the baby actually move & kick?
Thanks ladies

Looking back, I actually never felt flutters. I felt my first kicks at exactlyl 22 weeks. It was undeniable it was the baby, she liked to use my bladder as a trampoline!

Re: Explain what a flutter is please!
I never really felt a flutter I would feel things that would make me think, "hmmm is that the baby?" But for the first time yesterday morning when I was laying really still I felt my first "pop" and then put my hand there and I'm pretty sure I felt it on the outside too.

Re: Explain what a flutter is please!
Thinking back I think the "flutters" I felt were really gas bubbles or indigestion. I really FELT it when kicks and flips started....I could also distinctively feel it best when laying down on my back....try to lay down and feel your lower belly.....

I too felt distinct movement at 22 weeks ....Before that once in a while I would feel a twitching ( almost like when your eyebrow twitches )

Re: Explain what a flutter is please!
I definitely feel flutters. I'm 17 weeks. It just feels like this weird quick twiching movement almost like a butterfly or bug or something is stuck in there. I can definitely tell it apart from gas. I think you will know when you feel it, I was wondering also then after I felt it once or twice I knew right away. Sorry I can't explain it better. Hope you feel it soon!!

I was always unsure of the flutters because they felt like gas bubbles!!

I would describe it as a tickle.

Re: Explain what a flutter is please!
I felt my first flutter at 16 w 4d. I had a doppler at home and I was listening to her heartbeat and could tell she was moving from the sound on the heartbeat monitor. At the same time that I heard the noise, I felt her flutter! I would feel her a few times through the day after that, but a few weeks later her movements were definitely felt.
