Am I the only one

who is completely mental about the changes in our bodies? I am only 8 weeks 3 days and i feel like i can't fit comfortably into my regular pants. I feel like i'm just getting bigger and have to remind my self that there's a reason for it. I was always very crazy self conscious about the way i look and now i feel its worse b/c i'm in that "inbetween" phase, of not really looking pregnant but needing a larger size. I have to go to a work meeting for the next 4 days and i just feel like i will be miserable (and people don't know yet- so i'm sure they'll wonder what is wrong with me). So i guess i;m just wondering if i'm the only crazy one Chat Icon

Re: Am I the only one

i probablyl was with my first. But once you start to look more pregnant and less round, you'll feel better about it. there's nothign you can do about it, so just try to do stuff that makes you feel good about the way you look.

Re: Am I the only one

You are definitely not the only one. I lost 60lbs before I got pregnant. I was the smallest I have ever been in my life, now I'm preggo and love it and hate it at the same time. I'm 25 weeks now and you can't really tell I'm pregnant. I can still get away with wearing bigger sweatshirts, but I did have to buy maternity pants. Even though I'm not a big girl anymore, I very self conscious. DH keeps telling to stop worrying about it cause I'm preggo not fat. I'm still able to work out, but not full force like I was. I can't wait to get back to the gym full force. The only thing we can do is to remember we're pregnant and our bodies are going to change and there's nothing we can do about it, lol. Hope this helps you abit. Try not to beat yourself up.

you are NOT the only one at all...

i have struggled with massive body/self-esteem issues all my life and the 'getting larger' and 'in between' phases are the hardest for me - no matter what i do. I try to look at myself in the mirror as kind of a 'baby factory' and try to stress that my body is no longer my own. Some days it helps - others, not so much...

Same here..

I was also overweight to begin with, but I haven't gained that much weight during my pregnancy. It's the stretch marks that Chat Icon Chat Icon me! I haven't found any "magical" lotions that work.

Hopefully they fade because they are UGLY!

I don't think there are any magical lotions. My belly looks like the babies are trying to claw their way out, they just keep going higher and higher. I can't even look at my bare belly anymore.Chat Icon

Re: Am I the only one

you arent the only one!!! As I've posted before I used to be really heavy..I had a gastric bypass in 2002 and lost ALOT of weight....I am about 125-135 (pre preggo)....I've gained a little weight..nothing awful but I have to keep reminding myself that I am carrying twins and its just inevitable. I am lucky in that I am only growing in the belly. My legs, arms, face annd butt are still the same size. I think the key is to find maternity clothing that makes you feel good!I had some Old navy items that just didn't fit me well..I am ont a fan of old navy normally anyway. I feel their shirts are all short and boxy...and im tall and thin so it's really not a good match for me LOL...I found some really good sites and got some really trendy and stylish clothes......it makes me feel sexy still..I know I'm pregnant and about to be a mom but I still want to look nice and maintain myself. I take alot of pride in my appearance

Re: Am I the only one

You def. aren't alone. I am very early on but it is a fear of mine too. I know it is for all the right reasons that we are growing, but I have always been a body conscious person and have maintained my weight. It makes me nervous but I plan to be healthy through my pregnancy and continue to moderately work out if I am able to.

Re: Am I the only one

I'm with you too. It took me a long time to get to the weight that I am and I'm not looking forward to gaining a whole lot and then trying to lose it again.

I am also NOT excited about stretch marks - thats what I am most dreaded. I know I'm going to end up with the regardless because I have a couple from growth spurt I had as a teenager. However, I went to a health food store and was recommended to take a capsule of essential oils and fatty acids (Omega 3, 6 and 9) - totally safe and beneficial to take if you're pregnant. A doc friend of mine says it nourishes the skin from the inside out, helping the moisture and elasticity of the skin, hopefully delaying stretchmarks. They're also excellent for the baby's development (brain and organs, especially). So I'm using that and Burts Bees Belly Butter, so at least I know I'm doing everything I can to help hold off the stretch marks.

I was just thinking about this over the weekend. I'm 10w, 4 days and in the inbetween phase. It is so frustrating! I am ok in my old pants in the morning, but by the late afternoon I'm unbuttoning my pants. I am bloated and uncomfortable. I almost can't wait to just gain more weight so I can go into maternity pants!

Re: Am I the only one

Your not alone... I'm 37 weeks and I still hate the way I look, I seem to have gained all over instead of just in the belly. Plus I gained about 40 lbs, which I'm not to happy with. BUT every time that little man kicks or hiccups or what have you, he melts me and I would do this again and again to feel this Chat Icon

I am so bloated and look pregnant already and I am only 6 weeks. I am not liking the look of my body right now!

This is baby #2. I loved my belly when it was an actual belly. Bloated belly is ugly!

Re: Am I the only one

soooo not alone. I lost 50lbs years ago and have kept it off....and needless to say I've been obsessed with my weight since. My first trimester wiped me out, so I could barely make it to the gym. I also ate like a piggy so I'm gaining like crazy. I'm mad at myself because I could have made better choices about what I ate rather than letting it go. So now I'm changing that and eating much healthier...at least that's the plan.Chat Icon And I'm hoping the 2nd trimester will provide more energy for the gym! I miss feeling good about myself. I know gaining weight is definitely normal and I shouldn't be hard on myself...but being in good shape is what helps me self-esteem wise. I'm basically not proud of the unnecessary pounds. I just want the baby to account for it all!Chat Icon Instead, mommy is eating like she never has before because she thinks she can!Chat Icon Holidays don't help either! When I used to just have one cookie, I'm having three....bad bad bad!Chat Icon Chat Icon

I feel your pain. I hate that I feel this way and feel guilty about it, but I knew I'd have this issue being so obsessed with my weight in the first place.Chat Icon I just want to LOOK pregnant and not bust out of my clothes for cookie and cake weight!Chat Icon

Re: Am I the only one

I am feeling a bit better about it. I think as I look more pregnant and less chubby it is getting easier. Believe me, I wanted this more than anything but, the body image thing is hard. Also I am quite big for my "week" and although I have only gained about 7 pounds.. I get comments CONSTANTLY about how big I am and how I look 5-6 months preggo. So that stings and makes it harder. Hang in there. Chat Icon
