Need some help with Mucinex...please

I have been sick on and off since we started TTC in August...like every month I have a cold. Last month DS decided to share his daycare cold with me and I am still slightly congested from it. Nothing too bad but still it lingers...so I was thinking of taking something...and Mucinex came to mind...then the comments about using it when TTC popped up too.

I guess I just need some open thoughts and opinions...

For the congestion...something worth taking to help finally clear me up?

For TTC...something worth trying or could it cause problems?

What are your opinions on it? I see so much about 'hostile mucus' but I have no idea if my mucus is hostile so I'm confused Chat Icon Chat Icon

The purpose of the Mucinex is the same as Robitussin when TTC - it basically thins out your CM to provide a smoother path so to say!

From what I understand, you want to steer clear of antihistimines while TTC as they can have the opposite effect - drying you up.

Funny story (knid of).

Over the summer, I was sick and feeling REALLY crappy. I took Dayquil pills every day for maybe 3-4 days and it happened to be right before O time. I had more EWCM that month than I had EVER had before! (Despite the fact that Dayquil isn't supposed to do that).

The next month, I figured I would give Mucinex a try. If Dayquil worked so well, Mucinex must work too - right? WRONG. That month I probably had the least EWCM ever.

I mean, I think it's worth a shot - works for some people! Just didn't happen to work for me.

I took Mucinex this month - whether or not it helped I guess we'll find out in a week or so!

I didn't notice any extra CM but I also know that sometimes it's not on the outside! Chat Icon

Thanks everyone!

I ran over to Duane Readeand found the 100mg Mucinex and Robitussin but the Mucinex was for kids so I just went with the Robitussin. The Mucinex pill was 600mg and no robitussin pills there...uggh I hate the liquid but I want to try.

And hopefully I can stop blowing my nose soon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I took Mucinex the month I got my BFP. Whether it played a role, I have no idea but I think it's worth a shot!

Feel better! Chat Icon

Re: Need some help with Mucinex...please

I am using Mucinex because it is supposed to help thin CM which helps TTC and it had the handy benefit of helping me get over bronchitis! I think it is a good idea, so go for it!
