WWYD?

Hey girlies...I have posted regarding this before, but it is killing me so i figured i'd get everyone's opinions again. DH and I are holding out to start TTC till March. Reason being...the earliest I can leave my job in order to reamain vested is in December of 2009, and I was thinking that If i get preggo at that time or after then i can just leave my job and work part time or stay home with the baby for a little while.

Now....things at work have been kind of crazy lately. My boss just quit, I refuse to take her position b/c of all the cr*p she has to deal with....but i am extremely worried that things here are going to fall apart real soon. there is not way they will lay me off or anything, but i just dont know how much longer I can handle being here.

I want to TTC soon, and would prefer to be in this work place while i am PG, just b/c despite the stress, i am comfortable here and i would hate to start at a new place and then get PG right after.

So my choices are...
1. Start TTC now, if i have the baby before December 09, then just leave my job after the baby and forfeit being vested for pension.
2. Start TTC now, have the baby and return to work for a few months after baby is born to get vested...then quit.
3. Wait till March to TTC since if i get preggo i will know 100% that i will be vested by the time i give birth.

Obviously i know it can take quite a while to conceive so i know that even if i start now there is a possibility that i will not get PG till March or after that anyway...i am just lost and not sure how i should plan this. Just wondering what you would all do given this this situation. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

in addition...if i get vested it wont be that much it will prob be a few hundred a month since i havent been here too long yet.

No one can tell you what to do. It's a decision only you and your DH can make.

Honestly - you just never know how long it can take to get pregnant.

I wouldn't start TTC before you are ready. You never know - you could get pregnant in your first month. I've seen it happen MANY times.

You have to be prepared for it to months or even a year - or for it to take no time at all.

I think you need to weigh the pros and cons of each situation.

This just happens to be one of those things that you cannot predict. And often the more we try to plan and time it out perfectly, the more out of our grasp it seems to become.

I think the most practical thing to do would be to try to wait until March, not just because that will guarantee you being vested, but because it might also give things a chance to calm down at your job because you indicated that you might end up leaving soon anyway.

However, with that said, if you feel you are ready to start ttc now, then you will find a way to make it work. Everyone always does.

If you wait when you don't want to you may end up regretting that decision. Regardless, I am a believer that things will work out the way they are supposed to.

how much maternity do you get? That would be counted in how long you work at the company even if you leave at the end. so that should buy you some more time.

I would pick option two.. if you and DH are both ready and the only reason you are waiting is to get vested, I would start now and then go on maternity leave and go back for a couple of months then quit.

It's a tough decision. I would start trying now and then if you had to come back after the baby to get vested. At least then if it takes a couple of months to get pregnant you won't be looking for a job later. Good luck with your decision.
