Winter jacket
What length do you have/are you getting?
I need a casual (probably puffer) jacket. I can't decide on getting one that falls at the waist or one that falls just above the knee.
Which do you prefer?

Re: Winter jacket
My winter coat is long, right above my knee. I prefer long because of the wind & rain in the winter & I freeze having to wait for the lirr. My fall jacket is shorter though.

Re: Winter jacket
I have both. Now that I'm not commuting anymore, I will probably;y get more use out of the short one.

That's what i'm torn about. I commute in my car (so it's not like i'm standing outside waiting for a train), but i wear scrubs to work and they're so thin... so eventhough its only a 2-3 mins walk from my car to the hospital, it's so cold. I never had a long coat before (my pea coat comes about mid-butt on me ) so i'm not sure if it's more than i need, but i HATE freezing... even if its just for a few mins.

Re: Winter jacket
I have both, but wear my long one more. I guess it depends on the weather and what the plan is. Going out for a night in the city I'll wear my short one and most other times I LOVE my long one. So comfy. Also, I love my vest jackets when it's not too cold out and I'm running errands. Perfect for the mall so you don't carry around a heavy coat

Re: Winter jacket
I have a wool long coat (below the knee) that I got at Macy's that really flatters me and looks professional for work. But I also just bought this one from the Gap for days like yesterday and it is awesome! (and was on sale and i just looked they dropped the price even more to $68- it fits really well nice & warm but not too hot - i hate when it's too puffy & hot. And it has a detachable hood):

Re: Winter jacket
I hate having a long coat when driving in the car, so I would go short. I'm also a freakishly "hot" person though according to DH....

Re: Winter jacket
Both are long b/c I commute to the city and walk to the office from Penn. When it's frigid, I wear the down coat

thank you for posting this - i stopped there on my way home from work and used my $20 off gap reward certificate on this! $48 for a winter coat is my kinda thing.

I also own this wool coat for non-precip days: LL Bean

Re: Winter jacket
My puffer is fitted with a belt at my stomach so it looks less "puffer" and goes above my knee

Now it is back up to 68.50. I think it was an error... but I was charged 38.50 Maybe you can get a price adjustment? At least get the $10

Re: Winter jacket
i prefer one that hits right at the hip - if it is at my waist my hips look huge and i don't like the hassle of a longer coat.
