Char got scratched by a cat!
My dog loves to chase animals out of the yard. She is very over-protective of our backyard and runs after squirrels, rabbits, cats, etc. - whatever comes in the yard if she is out there.
Today, Vin and her were running around in the yard and playing fetch when a cat came into the yard... Char saw the cat and ran towards it. The cat stood there, Char stopped, and they kind of looked at each other. Char then went up to the cat and started sniffing it -- the funniest part about Charlotte chasing animals is that she does NOTHING when she gets up to them - doesn't bite or get mean LOL. Talk about bizarre but that's her! So, when she started to sniff the cat, the cat got scared and scratched her! She yelped and Vin brought her inside.
We noticed she is bleeding (not a lot but just blood from a scratch) in two places on her back and three places on her butt. We shaved around the areas and cleaned them with Hydrogen Peroxide. What else, aside from calling/going to the Vet which I will do tomorrow morning, can we do for her? Someone suggested witch hazel?

Def call the vet. Cats can pass diseases on through their nails.

The most important thing is just to keep the cuts clean. Do they make over the counter antibiotic ointments for dogs? You could dress the wounds with that if they do. (It's been a while since I've had a dog, but they sell tons of this stuff for horses.)
I think you're doing the right thing - keeping it clean and getting a call into the vet. If Char's up to date on all her shots, I'm sure she'll be fine.

I called the Vet - I described the scratches which are, luckily, not that deep. He said she should be OK - just to continue with the peroxide twice daily - if it gets red or puffy to call back but as long as they look better and better we are OK... And they do look much better since putting the peroxide on. She is traumatized  The poor thing!
