1st appointment *updated*
I just called the doctor...he doesn't see pt's until they are 8-10wks...so that would be the end of the month. My appointment is 10/21...what should I expect? What should I ask......I'm just so nervous...2wks is a loooooooooooong time to wait. They said due to the amount of test that are + they do not need to confirm it so they will draw blood on the 21st. Did anybody else have to wait? Did you keep POAS to make sure you stayed pg? I know i'm crazy, but I can't help but feel so needy and overwhelmed. TIA

I just spoke to my ob again and they said we're actually 8wks I go on Wed 10/8/08 for my first u/s

Congratulations!! It will feel like a long time but it's totally normal. They'll draw blood, do a urine sample, check your BP and do an ultrasound so you can see the heartbeat. The first appt is so exciting. Just relax and enjoy till then!

Blood, urine, weight, BP, sono, if you haven't had a PAP, they'll do one as well. Where I live, it's a state law that that you get swabbed to check for ghonorrea(sp), so at my first appointment my OB did that.

I didn't have my 1st appt until I was alomst 9 weeks.
Before the appt. I did end up using the rest of my HPTs, just to be sure I was still PG, but once the box ran out I didn't go out to buy more 
The first Dr.s appt is a long one, I had a bout 8 vials of blood drawn for various tests, had a sonogram where we saw the heartbeat for the first time  , the do an internal exam and a PAP (although I didn't need one because I had had one 3 months before). Your Dr. will also sit down with you and go over family history for you and DH, things to be careful of during PG and a basic overview of what to expect during the PG.
The longest part of my PG was waiting for that first appt. - after that time really starts to fly!!!

Congrats!
The first appointment for me they did A LOT of blood work.
Took my weight and did an internal sonogram- to see the baby's heartbeat. you will get your first set of pictures!
The dr sat with dh and I and told us what to expect, and the do's and dont's and gave me my first supply of vitamins.
Number one- try to relax. i know, easier said than done, but try!

I just found out last week and my appt isn't until the 21st as well. Last time my dr saw me at 5 1/2 weeks to it is hard to wait this time.
Last time they drew blood, did a quick sono to see if they saw anything, sat down and answered any questions - to what are the no nos etc.
