Puppy question
Hey everyone--I'm brand new to this board but I'm having a bit of an issue with a puppy.
Here's the background. I was in the mall today and these two people were carrying around a TINY puppy (less than a pound) They stuck the baby on the ground and was letting it cry and shiver and shake. I asked them what they were doing and they said they were 'trying to get rid of it' and were selling it to anyone for $400. Well long story short, I couldn't allow the poor baby to go home with them so I bought the puppy.
There is NO way I can keep her (ha did I mention that I'm getting married in 3 weeks and just took the last bit of money from our wedding fund for this??)
I'm going to take her to my vet and get her checked---but does anyone know of a reallly good shelter that will make sure she finds a good home??? I THINK she's a keshond or at least some of that but I have no idea

Wow this is some situation!! Maybe someone here will want to take her.. is it a girl or a boy?? did they charge you for it??? i sure hope not!! How big does that breed get?

I know it is! My poor fiance..we already rescued three cats a year ago!
I gave them the money because I just knew I couldn't go to sleep tonight knowing that baby wasn't in the right hands.
They said she was 4 weeks old..but I'm not sure. They also said SHE was a he... If she's what I think she might be, the breed gets about 35 pounds. I'm going to call my vet in the AM to get her in right away and get her checked out.

4 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats insane!!! that poor pup is too young to be taken away from her/his Mommy!!! i am so sad right now!!! What was there story??? How did they get the dog in the first place?? where's the Mommy??? *****????? Thank God you got her..they could have given her/him to some sicko!!!

You are an angel, what terrible people they are. What is wrong with them???
Take the pup to the vet and see what he/she says. Then take it from there. I don't know, the pup is so small and young, I don't know what it will need right now. It may even need to find a foster mom, it's so small....please keep us posted.

4 weeks is way too early! That poor puppy needs constant care! Definitely bring her to a vet right away!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give an update!
She did wonderfully last night and I brought her to my vet this evening. We found out that despite her size, the people who had her knew nothing about her. She's actually a bit older (closer to 7 weeks) But she was dehydrated and needs some vitamins, other than that she's in decent health.
It's pretty suspicious that they knew nothing about her---so I'm still not sure how they got her. But all I do know is that she's a happy and seemingly healthy little lady. She's only 2.4 pounds and my vet thinks that she's mixed with pomeranian. So my fiance and I will foster her for a few weeks (my vet wants her to wait a few weeks to get her first shots and make sure she doesn't have parasites) and then hopefully I can find her a forever home. It's worth every penny to know that she was safe and warm last night and that she'll have everything she needs to start a new life with a family who loves her. :)
