Went to L&D last night
So some of you know that I have a shortened cervix and have been put on progesterone. Well, all day friday and sat. I was feeling crampy and pressure on the bottom of my belly. I really thought it was mind over matter and that I was just freaking out, but at around 5 pm I called my Dr. who called back immediately. He told me to be on the safe side to go to L&D.
I got there around 5:45 and was admitted to a triage room right away. They set up a contraction monitor, did a sono to measure the cervix (which was still at 2 cm) and did a ffn test which basically can tell if the cervix is opening. The test came back negative, but the monitor showed that I was contracting every 8-10 minutes.
They gave me some pills (can't remember what they were called, have to ask on Tues. at my appointment) and hooked me up to an IV, thinking I might be dehydrated which can cause contractions.
The IV did help a lot. The contractions went down to almost none. I was released around 10 pm.
I have been a nervous wreck since this whole cervix issue has come to light. Every cramp and bump scares the $hit out of me. I have another dr. appointment on Tues. and another sono on Wed.
My dr. also suggested that I start a routine of steroids just in case I do go into preterm labor. Scary!
Anyway, I'm just trying to take it easy today. I was going to go to the beach, but didn't want to lug all of that gear around. I feel really sad because I went from total excitement about this pregnancy to having to worry all of the time. I just can't wait for the next couple of months to pass so I know I am in the safe zone!

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I would put yourself on modified bed rest for a few weeks and I would also take the steroids just in case. best of luck

I totally understand about goiNg fRom total excitement about pregnancy to worrying every second. I was preggo in the Dec mommy thread and MC but I am preggo again and so thrilled about it but every twinge and cramp I am a wreck! I am just 6 weeks tomorrow and have had some cramping no bleeding and cant remember if I had this with my DD who is 2 1/2 now..
So anyway I can relate and Im sure you will do great! Baby is great and so are you! Keep hydrated very hydrated, does alot with contractions!

IIm so sorry your so nervous. And sorry you had to go there.
One question- your Dr has not put you on bedrest?
I was put on bedrest when my cervix reached 2.5 measurement...
Standing up etc puts all your body weight on your cervix.
Not trying to scare you but I would be laying down as much as possible for now.
Then maybe it will lengthen?
I hope it resolves itself.
Mine didnt, but I managed to make it till 39 and 1/2 weeks .

So sorry you had to go through that, but I am so glad everything turned out ok. Make sure you get plenty of rest and stay hydrated!!!

 sweetie that's so scary!! i'm glad you're okay, just take it one day at a time and try not to worry so much...i know, i know, easier said than done, but you gotta think about your little one in there! big !!!
