what a rough night...lil long

so I have been in my own room since I got here at hotel stony brook 9 days ago and had finally gotten a roomate last night. Of course they put an induction in here and between being trapped in the window seat and having the door closed and the curtain pulled over (so I couldnt see the tv most of the night for her privacy) I was so closterphobic and scared already. I panicked...I couldnt stand listening to her have contraction after contraction...ect for hours and all the family members in here and it was crowded and hot...I was totally freaked out that my blood pressure had sky rocketed and all of this put me at even more risk. Then later that night my DH and I made that dreadful tour of the NICU but I have to admit it wasn't all that bad it was actually a nice experience the families down there were so helpful there was another baby there that was born at 25w6d (I am 25w4d) so it was interesting to see what my baby would look like if she comes this early. anyway by the time I came back upstairs my roomate was finally ready to go to the labor room thank god...but then I find out that they were putting another induction in here last night and I totally freaked again. My dh told them that if they do they are going to puy me at risk and if i go into labor it will be on thier hands. I couldn't go through the stress of listening to someone else going into labor again and getting all freaked out again. so thankfully they put that one in another room and I was spared an even more horrible night.

Ugh!! How horrible! Can you or your DH say something to to your doctor so the induction ladies aren't put in your room? What about a private room? Is that an option? I hope you have a better day and night today. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am 1st on the list for a private room we are hoping for today. well what they told me is that they usually dont put 2 inductions in the same room b/c if they need to get the pt in the window out quickly they dont what to have to move bed around they need to put them in the doorway and I was the only one with a door available but I am sorry there was just no way I was going through that again...

I hear ya!! It sounds like torture to listen to that... esp when you are supposed to be as serene as possible! So glad that you are #1 on the list for a private room. Based on your posts on hospital bed rest I would say yes, it is not bad at home at all. That said, it is still really hard. Everyone has been wonderful, it is just really long dragging boring days!....but I don't have to tell you that Chat Icon

Sadly I am not a crafter.....however I am a big reader so that has been keeping me a little busy.

Re: what a rough night...lil long

well I am in my own private room and I already have a complaint...in the other room I used to get the YES network so I can watch my YANKEES now in this room it is an older TV and doesn't have that channel I dont know what I am going to do without them...I have not missed a game this year!!! DH says we can order it through some website on the internet so hopefully that will work out OK this room is much nicer and I am away from the noisy nurses station. And the bed is more comfortable so I guess I have to choose which I want my own room or yankees tough choice though if anyone knows the website though let me know

I know what youa re goign through. I went through that until I had a private room--it was nice but it was so boring that I wished I had a roommate some days just to talk to and pass the time.

As a hospital bedrest pro lol-almost 4 long months. Hang in there. It seems like an eternity but when I look back now it was the best thing I ever did. The daily monitoring was something I looked forward too. When I was on home bedrest I was always worrying. Anytime in the hospital that I panicked I was already there and they would send sono or the nurse in to check the baby and calm me down. That was my secret to getting through the days.

Side note--ask for a long term bed. They have a limited number of special beds avaialble for patients they know will be there for a while i.e cancer patients. IT is way more comfortable and THICKER than the regular hospital bed. It also has more features.

Hang in there. You're going to get through this.

thanks for the advise I must be in a long term best cause I noticed that this one is thicker and more comfy then the other what's funny is that I have worked here for 9 years just one floor down and I never knew that there were different types of mattresses but I feel the difference lol

P.S. I am glad things worked out for you I think at the most I will be here 2-2 1/2 months so compared to 4 guess I cant complain....

I'm so glad you're finally in your own room. I hope you can get some rest now.

The way the Yankees season is shaping up maybe it's best you can't see the game Chat Icon (yup....I'm a Mets fan!)
