Changing Station - what does yours have?
Hi ladies, I could've sworn there was a thread w/this info but searching produces no results, I'm sure I'm not using the best keywords. In any event, what do you have set up at baby's changing station? I'd like to forego the clutter if possible and only have out items that are really going to be used each and every time. Also I will need to tutor DH on exactly what each and every item is for so doesn't end up with butt paste slathered on like sunscreen
Any list you can share, or can we start one here???

do you mean at your house?
We're in a one story condo, so we'll be using our changing table in the babys room. It will be up against the window sill and that's where I plan on storing the stuff

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
I have a mesh thingy that hangs off the side. There are slots for diapers, wipe, butt cream and a few other items. I don't use powder, so I have an empty slot there. I also keep a small stack of burp cloths there just in case there is an incredible mess. AND I have a mobile over the changing bit. Once DS started to move it was the only way to keep changing time from becoming a wrestling match.

Oh awesome, that's a great idea with the mobile, and I received a second mobile at my shower, so I will do this too!!!!!! THe mesh thingy sounds interesting, I'm goint to try to find something like that!!!
Yes,we have a 2 br apartment, so our changing station will be in our bedroom on top of the dresser, we've got a good space, I'm just not sure about the exact "items" to lay out (Besides the obvious diapers & wipes).

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
I have a lined basket that has diapers, wipes, vaseline, powder, baby lotion...thats it! I never consistently used anything else at the changing table and my daughter always kicked the basket off of the dresser and I had to pick it all up a few times a day! Everything else was in a basket in our bathroom closet.

Make sure you have vaseline if your son is being circumsized (sp). Also, in the beginning, I used alcohol pads to dry out his umbilical cord.
I keep diapers, wipes, and aquaphor out as well. Also, if it is seperate from your dresser, maybe keep a onesie or two, just in case your baby gets his outfit dirty, or happens to pee when you are changing him!

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
this is one of the last things I still have to select.
Our changing table is in a small corner and there isn't much room to spread out. While there is a ledge to put everything, it's within the baby's reach, so we likely will go to ikea and pick-up a simple wall shelf to go above the changing table/dresser.
we don't have too much stuff... only diapers, ointments, powder, and wipes, so it all should fit on one wall shelf quite easily.....

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
Hi Sconemommy! You know something that was my ORIGINAL plan too, a nice neat shelf, out of baby's reach.... Well, my MOTHER almost had an aneurysm at the mention of that, she insisted that I NOT hang a shelf anywhere near baby, because, well, "shelves FALL you know."
OKOK and they ARE doing a ton of construction on our block, we've had a few casualties lately due to the never ending hammering, drilling and banging... so in theory she's right, I just hate acknowledging that...
If its not one thing its your mother!!!

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
ugh... didn't consider that...
ah, but I COULD put it on a wall adjacent to the changing table... in which case it couldn't land on Scone!
gotta think about it a bit more.
This thread made me look up a few storage devices on amazon, and frankly, the bulk of them have pretty bad reviews (saggy shelves, tiny pockets). I think I'll try to find something more durable....

Exactly, and if it did fall you'd have to change scone/bun's name to PANCAKE....
Sorry, just trying to find the humor where i can today...

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
Have you already purchased your changing table?
I've seen some where there is room for storage right underneath the table -- that might work

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
Hi Lizzy, we skipped the Changing table and are putting the changing pad on the dresser, so that kind of cuts down on storage space, ahhhh the joys of city living

I am pretty sure that my friend got it at BRU.
ETA: I did not see it on their website, but I found it on Amazon:

i wonder if i can hang that on the back of a door
My 'changing table' is the top of the dresser.. i was going to just use the top drawer or middle drawer (keeping fingers clear) for all that stuff.
but that organzier looks cool.. Hrmm... maybe I'll modify a short mesh thingy and put that on my door.. the door is RIGHT next to the dresser

Re: Changing Station - what does yours have?
aside from the changing pad itself:
its all in the diaper caddy: diapers wipes vaseline q tips bags (those scented bags for poopie diapers) a cetaphil pump lotion next to the caddy air freshner next to the caddy (for the garbage)
In the drawer right below it I have all sorts of diaper rash creams, nail clippers, those nose squirty things, nail file, aquaphor, etc etc
