Should I be worried??
At my sono today, Dr. casually mentioned my placenta was stilla little low for my stage in the game. He said I should not worry that it is most likely to move up in the next few weeks. He said it's not over the cervix....hmmmmm If its low isn't it close to it??? I tried not to think about it too much, but now it keeps nagging me in the back of my head.....I know some people here had low placenta's that moved but also some that it became previa....Don't wanna start panicking.....Any thoughts??? XOXOXOXO BOTB

Re: Should I be worried??
I don't have any personal experience with this, but if your doctor is not worried about it, I don't think you should get yourself upset. These things correct themselves most of the time, so try not to panic. I know it's easier said than done.

Re: Should I be worried??
I was told at the my Level II not done by my doctor but at NSUH that I had a low lying placenta and they said 95% of the time they move up later in the game..When I spoke to my doctor about it at the follow up he was not worried at all, and said if it's not previa he'll just check it again at 28 weeks or so, and at that point it should have moved up

Re: Should I be worried??
if he said dont worry, why would you worry?
it moves when your uterus gets bigger

Re: Should I be worried??
I had a low lying placenta at 14 weeks that turned into a partial prevea at 15 weeks then at 20 weeks was resolved so I think that there is still plenty of time to move

Re: Should I be worried??
I had low lying placenta when I went for my ultrascreen at North shore manhasset. I am 34 weeks now and it has completely moved. don't worry, chances are it will move!

If the Dr. said not to worry than I wouldn't.

Re: Should I be worried??
Mine was low in the beginning (I forget but maybe about 16 weeks???) by week 22 it had moved up and was just fine, so I think in all likelihood you'll be the same!! Don't stress out, your doc sounds very at ease with it, give it a few weeks and I'm sure you'll be a-ok!!

Re: Should I be worried??
I had a previa and it was a complete previa from the beginning. At 12 w they noticed it was in the wrong position and by 16 weeks it was confirmed. I never had it "low lying."
Many others who had it low have had it move in time. It all depends how your uterus grows.
