I agree. I think you need to sit down and realize how lucky you and your baby really are.
Having grandparents who WANT to spoil your child is an amazing blessing. My ILs spoil DS every time the see him which is alot! Do they always do exactly as I want, no...but honestly to a degree that is the joy of being a grandparent. Do they still sit in the back seat of the car with him so he isnt alone which I dont want them to do because now he doesnt like to be alone...yest. But there is no real harm in that! So i pick and choose my battles.
Let your parents buy, if anything ask them to just be sure to include that gift receipt "this way if you get doubles you know you can return one". And if they buy a toy you dont "approve of" as you said you dont see them that often so just put in in the back of the closet and call it a day. Its nice of them to spend their money on your child!
Personally I think you are being a little close minded regarding your parents feelings.
