? about Water Breaking

I am concerned about my water breaking at work or in the store or something, and so I am wondering if it is ok to wear a pad? Does anybody know if there is any problem with doing that? Or does everyone just let it happen wherever you may be?

if your water breaks, wearing a pad isn't going to do anything unless you have a slow leak Chat Icon

From what I've read and been told by my dr. only 15% of women's water breaks on their own. For most women it breaks during labor or the dr. has to break it for you. I doubt wearing a pad would really absorb anything, but if it makes you feel better I am sure it is fine.

a labor DVD I watched said if your water DOES break, it likely will be a slow leak if you're standing up (the head plugs the leak!) and will be a gush when you are horizontal Chat Icon

Yeah I heard about 11-15% will break on their own as well. HOWEVER, I still put a chuck pad under my sheet over my mattress so DH's precious bed doesnt get ruined should I fall within that range. I friggin hate that bed. GIVE MOMMA A SLEEP NUMBER!!!!

A pad is not going to do a single thing and unfortunately there is nothing you can do when it happens it happens...

A wicked part of me hopes I ruin the mattress. DH knows this. The bed is way too hard for me.

Re: ? about Water Breaking

My water broke while in bed with DD. During the hours I was home before the OB said to come into the hospital, I wore heavy-duty pads, and they were fine. Don't worry!
