Did you register for an exercauser?
If you registered for an exercauser, which one did you get? Did you get one where the baby sits in the middle or did you get an activity center where the baby moves around the outside?

Re: Did you register for an exercauser?
nope, I didn't.
I heard that they actually delay development... (walking). Apparently, a study was performed showing that babies were content and didn't try to walk until their exercausers were taken away.... so that entire exercauser time, no further leg / movement development
I think I read that in the baby bargains book

I got the one that converts. It has 3 stages. I also got the jumperoo. As long as you don't use them as babysitters I think they're fine.

We got both as well, but returned the exersaucer; only because we really do not have a big house and felt the jumperoo was probably good enough at least for now. Out of the two, it seemed as if the jumperoo was higher rated and we probably did not need both. We shall see though!!

I read that in there too, but I think it's ok as long as you don't leave them in there for a long time.

Re: Did you register for an exercauser?
we weren't planning on it (we were going to register for a bouncy horse thing). My mom wants to get us a old fashion walker which is different I think (I hope so)

Re: Did you register for an exercauser?
I'm confused about the jumperoo. I thoughts Baby Bargains said jumpers were bad, but do they mean only ones that go in the doorway or does that also include the jumperoo?

As long as you don't stick the kid in it for hours at a time they are fine!!!
Especially useful when cooking dinner or taking a shower IMO

Re: Did you register for an exercauser?
Yes we did. We registered for the Evenflo Smartsteps. I've read some of the reports as well, but as for everything, moderation is key. If you plop the kid in there all day and night obviously issues may occur development-wise, but otherwise I think they are totally okay.

I'm confused about the jumperoo too...can anyone shed some light? Also, do you girls think it's necessary to have both items? These things are huge!

There are two kinds of jumperoos. The stationary one and the one that hangs in a door jam. DD loves the stationary one!
I have both the exersauser and jumperoo. She loves them both. I don't see how it could delay walking I don't think she would be in it at the point where she could walk. We started using it at 3 months. The jumperoo was started at a little under 5 months. So worth the money!

I try to take stuff like that with a grain of salt. As long as the baby isn't in it 24/7 he/she will be fine. My friend has the Evenflo Exersaucer and her son was crawling like a maniac by just a few months old and he was walking by his first birthday. Everything in moderation. We registered for the Evenflo one as well.

Re: Did you register for an exercauser?
a jumparoo is not what goes in the doorway it is similar to the exersaucer but kind of on springs
the old fashioned walkers are dangerous and easily tip over

I read that also. And my SIL has 2 kids that are delayed (one specifically with walking) adn the doctor and PT told her to absolutely not use them. So, I'm not going to bother with one. There are so many other items out there!

Jumperoos used to go in the doorway. They attach to a door jam. I have one that a friend gave me. Now they make them stationary which is the one I use because I feel it is a little safer.

that is this Doorway Jumper
it can't be called a Jumparoo because that is a trademark name i agree - it is safer
my SIL has the doorway one and it makes me very nervous

Re: Did you register for an exercauser?
Hayley loved her exersaucer!!! She used to stand in it..it strengthened her leg muscles. My SIL also bought me the jumeroo and she HATED that!
