Need Help re: O & BD days

DH and I BD for the first time this past Saturday as our official "TTC" start day.

I think I am about to get my period.

Is it possible that we did it on an ovulation day? Also BD'ed last night.

I am so new to this and don't want to do the whole counting days and OPK thing yet. I have a very irregular cycle so there was no way I would have known when I was going to get AF this month.

From what you wrote, it does not seem as though you BD'd on or around your ovulation date.

In a text book cycle, where day 1 is the first day of your period, you would ovulate on day 14 and get your period 14 days later. Most women have some kind of deviation from this 'norm' - ie, I tend to ovulate on day 18 or so and get my period 10 days later.

The time from AF to ovulation can vary greatly depending on all sorts of factors including stress, illness, travel etc. The time from ovulation to AF may vary from woman to woman but is usually 12-16 days. It's called your luteal phase and in an individual woman, remains pretty constant within a day or two.

If you just had sex on Saturday and are expecting your period, it's only been four days, so it's not likely that you managed to BD on your O date. Hope that helps.

thank you for your help, this is all so new to me, my period is very irregular so i never really know when i am ovulating or when i am going to get my period. This is something i have to discuss w/ the doc when i go on the 5th. Thanks girls.
