What did our mothers and grandmothers do without...

temping, CBEFM, OPKs and the internet? Do you think it made things less stressful?? I just never thought this would be a process...or maybe I am just making this TTC stuff too much of a production

Actually, I think it did. My mother doesn't get why I can't just relax and let it happen. She thinks all of the methods that are used should be reserved for when being relaxed and letting it happen doesn't work. She feels I am being too controlling over the process. She sees at as creating unnecessary stress that might actually prevent nature from taking its course. I say I am just being pro-active.

i actually spoke with my mom about the charting and said i am not doing any of that until just bd'ing doesn't work and she said that her and my dad tried the charting with me with the temping and everything and they were morons at it b/c the line was straight lol

i am trying to take it as easy as possible for a while i don't want to add any un-due stress b/c i know that stress can be a major factor in not getting pregnant

In my family, they drank more!
So relaxing was never an issue! They smoked, drank, did whatever they wanted and babies were never an issue!

it seems like its not easy as it was for them.. i just dont get it!
my mom never did any of this also, she tells me the same thing.. just relax and let it happen

it was easier for our mothers and grandmothers cuz all they did was bd and once they knew they were pg they went to the doc the doc did a blood test and thats it ... there wasnt a million sono's and all these tests.. i think it was better yrs ago.. the less you know the better it is !

i think all fo this temping, charting, internet, etc. etc. actually makes this whole process MORE stressful. i think the more you know, the more you don't know, if that makes any sense.

I think they were more laid back with the whole thing and that had to help to some degree. Also, i think in their generations, babies weren't planned to the nth degree like they are now. Women today plan babies more specifically like: I have to finsih college/grad. school first, i have to get tenure, i have to be at my job X amount of time, etc. Women of our mothers and grandmothers generations didn't have those pressures because many of them were SAHM. Also, they got married much younger and so didn't have the age factor to contend with either. Also because babies weren't planned to the nth degree, when they got pregnant, they got pregnant and that was that. many of the didn't stress about the timing of it. my mom had 4 kids in 6 years!

It was easier then, I think.

They didn't have the option to do all these things. I also think that fertility issues are more common now than they were back when our moms conceived so that could be why we all stress about it more. We almost know too much these days.

I think all the added info makes things more stressful. We decided to try a few months with just BD around O time, no OPK, temping or charting and see what happens.

I agree, I dont think it was always planned before.. you just had sex and when you were pregnant you were pregnant. I think we time it too much and we want it right when we are ready to have it...

here's what I think.......most mom's from previous generations started earlier since most didn't go to work (i.e. my MIL had her first at 21, unlike my mom who had her first at 33)......so I think they weren't too stressed about getting PG b/c they were just having fun and BD'ing like wild teenagers

My mom had 4-6 m/c befor she had me. They gave her those shots that later on they found out was really horrible for the fetus. ( I want to say DHA ) I'm ok. I only have very minor birth defects

PS- my Grandmother- what can I tell you? In all seriousness when she was about 78 I had a birds and the bees talk with her. She thought you peed and had babies from the same place. I explained the anotomy of men and women and how intercourse worked. She told me that she couldn't believe how smart I was.
