Fertility Friend Frustration.

So it is not REALLY Fertilifty Friend I am frustrated with ... just frustrated. I did sign up for the free first month...I was 39 days my last cycle...I do AM Temping. With Fertility Friend this month it has changed my Ovulation Date 3x already based on my temp. input. Oh well, now it seems I totally missed my mark according to FF. According to my own temping I thought I was pretty on target this month. Oh well...we will see.

In the menu on the left hand side, go to Sharing > homepage set up. At the top of the page, there will be a url in a little window - something like www.fertilityfriend.com/1d105f or similar. Cut and paste that here.

I would think you ovulated earlier than FF is saying going just by your temps. Have you been monitoring CM at all or doing OPK's? that would definitely help pinpoint the correct days. When do you think you ovulated?

The chart I'm seeing has CD 20 as your ovulation date and that looks pretty accurate based on your temps!

Lots of luck this cycle! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

WELL NOW as of This morning...with my temp only being 97.8 - I am now back to FF saying I ovulated on Day 24. I did not have the big temp spike to the mid 98's last cycle...the highest I achieved last cycle was about 98.3. Oh well...just hope it works itself out this month and I will have a better grip for next. THank you for your help!

What do you have set as your method of detection for ovulation?

Honestly, your chart is very confusing to me!

Are you being consistent with the times you take your temperature?

TY for taking the time to look. Honestly, It is my second cycle off the pill and I have been tracking things sorta half-as*ed. I take my temp. anytime from 630am-730am. I should set my alarm for the SAME time, right? And I was thinking I ovulated strictly with my temp. increase. I will next month pay much closer attention to my CM. What is CM like as you approace Ovulation...creamy or egg white - like? Also, would you suggest getting a OPK-or should I wait and see a few months if that is the case. Do OPK's tell you as you are ovulating, before or after???

Definitely set you alarm for the same time. I set mine for 5:40 am because that is the time I wake up normally during the week. On the weekends, I keep it set at that time but lower the volume. Then when it goes off, I take my temp and go back to sleep - it doesn't really interrupt my sleep too badly. Then when I wake up for the day, I hold down the on button and it tells me my last temp. You should try doing that. The more consistent you are, the better your chart will look!

Definitely pay attention to CM as well. As you approach ovulation, your CM should have an egg-white consistency (should be able to be stretched between your fingers). It can be whitish or clear and it literally looks like egg whites. This could mean you are ovulating the next day or even in 5 days.

I also do recommend getting OPKs or the CBEFM. OPKs will detect a rise in your LH (lutenizing hormone) which indicates that ovulation should occur within 24-36 hours. For me, I would ovulate after my second +OPK. (In other words, if I got a +OPK on Saturday and a +OPK on Sunday, I would ovulate on Monday). The CBEFM gives you both "high" and "peak" readings. Once it gets used to your cycles, it will give you between 1 and 5 high days (meaning high fertility) so you'd want to BD at least 1x during the high readings. It will also give you "peak" reading and the egg symbol. For me I ovulate on the second peak day. (In other words, if I got a peak reading on Saturday and another on Sunday, I ovulate on Sunday).

Temping is the only way to confirm that you actually ovulate (besides through your doctor) so I'm really learning to like that too.

I hope this helps and isn't too confusing!

Wow, I honestly thank you for your help. You do 540am...do you think a consistent 630am is okay? As long as I am consistent.

I did not realize that is how OPK's work. Do you have a particular brand/kind you like? How much do they usually cost? Also...is checking one time a day good-what time of the day is the best to check with OPK's?

With CM....A creamy white (stretchy) is what noticed this cycle and I BD the 2-3 days after that. But, creamy white and egg white are equally as good?

Do you have a special digital thermometer?

Sorry for all the questions...but again, I truly thank you!

Re: Fertility Friend Frustration.

Actually, that is why I am confused..saw the creamy white CM on 6/27 (friday) - we BD that weekend (sat/sun)... I assumed Ovulation was coming..but now FF is saying it just occurred 5 days ago....but I guess I should take it with a grain of salt bc I have not been consistent enough with taking my temp at the same time.

Re: Fertility Friend Frustration.

You can set the alarm for any time as long as you are consistently waking up at that time.

I prefer the ClearBlue Easy Digital OPKs. They are expensive, but IMO worth every penny since they take out all of the guesswork involved with interpreting lines. With OPKs, you want to test between 2 and 8 pm after having held in your urine for 4 hours.

Creamy CM is not the fertile kind. Only egg white consistency (color can be whitish or clear, but still must have the consistency of egg whites). Here are the descriptions from FF about CM:

# Dry: Record your cervical fluid as "dry" if you have no cervical fluid present at all; if you notice no cervical fluid in your underwear; and if the outside of your vagina feels dry. You can expect to see dry days both before ovulation after your period and after ovulation. Record "dry" if you are not able to gather or see any cervical fluid, even if your vagina feels slightly moist inside.

# Sticky: Record your cervical fluid as "sticky" if it is glue-like, gummy, stiff or crumbly and if it breaks easily and quickly and if it is not easily stretched. It will probably be yellowish or white, but could also be cloudy/clear. You may or may not see some sticky cervical fluid before and after ovulation.

# Creamy: Record your cervical fluid as "creamy" if it is like hand lotion, white or yellow or cloudy/clear, like milk or cream, mayonnaise or like a flour/water solution. It may stretch slightly but not very much and break easily.

# Watery: Enter "watery" if your cervical fluid is clear and most resembles water. It may be stretchy also. This cervical fluid is considered fertile and this may be your most fertile cervical fluid or you may get it before you get eggwhite cervical fluid or you may not get this type of fluid at all.

# Eggwhite: This is your most fertile cervical fluid. Record "eggwhite" if your cervical fluid looks at all like real eggwhite, is stretchy and clear, or clear tinged with white, or even clear tinged with pink. It also resembles semen (and has a lot of the same physical properties to allow the sperm to travel and be nourished). You should be able to stretch it between your thumb and index finger.

# Spotting: Record "spotting" when you have any pink or dark red/brown spots that leave a small mark on your underwear or pantyliner or that you only see when you wipe. If it does not require a pad or tampon, record it as spotting rather than menses. You may see spotting before or after your period, around the time of ovulation or around the time of implantation if you conceive. Do not start a new chart until you have red flow.

I have the CVS-brand basal body thermometer. It was $9.99 at CVS - I just bought it last month.

Best of luck, and please feel free to ask as many questions as you'd like! Chat Icon

Again I thank you. Funny enough FF now pushed m y O date back to the 20 day mark. But, I told my husband, this month I feel is a wash...since Things are not consistent.

I have a digital thermometer but I am guess a Basal temp. therm. is better/different. I love the fact that it would save my temp. and I can record it later.

When you check for your CM you use TP? That is what many of the girls recommended.

I may go get an OPK soon....how many "tests" come in one pack?

Can I ask what your name is? You have been so helpful.

Re: Fertility Friend Frustration.

If you weren't using a basal thermometer, then that is definitely why your chart was so inconsistent! The basal body temperature is your waking temperature and it is best measured by a specialized thermometer.

Usually 7 tests come in the packs of CBE digital OPKs.

I usually look for CM on the toilet paper, and sorry if TMI but it is especially prevalent after going #2.
