how often did you get a sono??

how often did all you ladies get a sono??

im 11 weeks and i have only had one sono (at 6 weeks).. i just went to the doc and everything is good and normal but he doesnt want another sono anytime soon.. i was at least expecting a sono after the 12 week mark..

he said there is no need to have one if everything is normal..how does he know everything is normal with the baby???? and said i wont get one till 20 weeks!! - hello thats in forever!!

am i being crazy??

i go back in 3 weeks and asked to see another doctor (hopefully she is better)

am i over reacting????

I know I'd want one before 20 weeks just for peace of mind that everything is forming properly.

I just had one yesterday at 8 weeks and then I go back at 12 weeks and then again at 20 weeks!

Well, I was under the care of an RE so I had lots in the beginning but when I started with my OB- I had one at 9 weeks and then again at 12 weeks for the nuchal translucency test- where they measure the fold in the back of the babys neck for DS (which I thought everyone got, could be wrong though )...My next will be at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan..

I think all doctors are different...but mine does them at 8, 12, 20 and again I think at 36 weeks. But again, sometimes things happen that make you need more sonograms.
I personally would want another one in between 6 weeks and 20 weeks...but that's just me.

I got one at 6, 12 and will have another at 20. I would be persistent about the 12 week sono--it would kill me not to see the little one for so long!

Are you getting the ultrascreen…that is a sono type test done around 12W...but if you are choosing not to get that test than you might not get one a 12w. My dr is great...i got one at 6w5d, 8w, 12w, an extra one right before 14w bc I asked for one when I got my ultrascreen results and i will get one right around 18 when he does the AFP and then the level II...

My doc is of the less is more philosophy too. Are you opting out of the ultrascreen or did you not have this offered to you? My doc did not offer it bc I have extremely low risk factors and said it wasn't necessary. I opted to have it anyway for piece of mind and bc I wanted to see the baby again. So I had one at 8,13 ultrascreen, and 18 level II.

If all goes well I may not have anymore at all. However I'm not gaining any weight so I think the doc will want to check in on the baby again.

At the 12-14 week untrasound they do the nuchal translucency. Here is a link that explains it better.

After 14 weeks it is more difficult to do this test. Definitely call to ask your doctor about this test.

With this pregnancy I had an internal sonogram at about 6 weeks to check for the heart beat. Then one at 12 weeks and then 20 weeks. Then there is usually one more sonogram around 32-34 weeks (I can't remember exactly).

oh.. this is only making me more upset.. i changed to a different doctor in the group but the next appointment in aug 7th.. i will be 14 weeks then and im going to nicely demand a sono to be set up..

I've had so many I can't even tell you bc I've had some complications. I would def. do the ultrascreen even if risk was low, why not? you get peace of mind and you get to see your little one!

I went through IVF so manybe thats why I got a few.

my OB does it at every appt
so far ive had about 5
1- sac
2- grain of rice
3 - 8 weeks may 31
4 - 10 weeks june 14
5 - 14 weeks july 12

and i had the ultrascreen june 24

It doesn't depend on your doctor, it depends on your insurance.

I got one 1 6 weeks, 1 at 13 weeks, 1 and 18 weeks and that was supposed to be it, but since DS was measuring small. I had one at 34 weeks.

I was supposed to have one at the beginning on pg to date the pregnancy, one at 12 weeks, one at 20 weeks, and one at 36 weeks.

Well I had one at 6 1/2 weeks, 12 weeks, 13 weeks, 20 weeks, 22 weeks, paid for a 3D sono at 28 weeks, one at 36 weeks, and 2 after my due date. It was awesome to get so many pics and chances to see our daughter.

Every doctors office is different and my insurance only was supposed to cover 3 sonos, and the office had to fight for the other ones.

've had one at every appt.. which ranged from every 3 weeks at the beginning to every 2 weeks and now i'm on weekly.. but i had a slight complication early on (low amniotic fluid) and now the baby is breech, so that is prob why they can justify it with the insurance company..

not sure If I'm getting another...dr said, as long as all goes well next time I see is when I'm delivering.
