Has anyone had to mix gonal f?
I had to mix 3 gonal f powders this am and it was a NIGHTMARE. I wasted 1 b/c I couldn't get it out of the vial. I wish I had the darn pen! Even menopur is soooo much easier with the q caps. I am thinking of getting some extra siringes so I can do it that way after getting the dilutent in the first vial. Any other suggestions or help? I was flipping out this morning with it. On the the upside, it doesn't burn.

What is your gonal-f dose? If its 450 per dose then that is why you got the mix. Other than I got no clue.

See, I felt completely opposite. I stopped using the Q-caps cuz I found them a pain in the azz to work with. Use one syrings - draw up the dilutent, inject into first vial, shake, draw, inject into second vial, repeat until you have enough...then switch needles.

I guess I am not used to drawing and mixing with the siringe. The q cap seems so much easier. I figured out how to do it with a q cap and have tons of extras so thats probably what I will do tomorrow. Beth Ann, my dose is 225 per day so i guess thats why I have to mix it. Its lower than the pen.

I was on 450 my lasat IVF cycle and used the Pen. My first cycle, I started out at 300, 150 in the morning and 150 in the evening.
MrsJoeG - Even on 225 you can use a Pen. I believe the lowest dose on the pen is 75

That is odd that they didn't order the pen with a dose of 225. Hmmmm.... that makes no sense. Well, you will be a mixologist expert in no time.

Re: Has anyone had to mix gonal f?
I was on 225 Gonal F and we mixed it without the Q cap. Our nurse told us not to use it. We just took the dilutent (we used the Repronex dilutent since I also had 75 Repronex to mix in) and injected it into the first vial, swirled it around and drew it all back up, then just kept injecting that solution into the rest of the vials until everything was in.
Once that was in, we put on the SQ needle and injected. After the first 2 nights when we started to relax about it a little bit it was fine - not that hard at all.
Maybe you should try without the Q-Cap??
ETA: Let me ask DH what his "trick" was to getting all the solution drawn back up - he got really good at it!
