I could Strangle the Cleaning Lady
So we have a lady come in every two weeks. We went away for the weekend (left on Friday). She was there on Friday and I called her on Wednesday to specifically remind her to lock the outside doors when she leaves AND to triple check that both cats are not locked in any rooms. She's locked them in the basement before which is no big deal because they love it down there and they have a litter box down there. Just no food. But that was only like for 2 hours.
DH and I get home on Sunday. She closed the door to the room where their litter box is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND, she closed the door to the room where their water is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am still fuming/upset for my babies. I hate leaving them in the first place. But never in a million years would I think she'd close the doors. What the heck was she thinking? I know she didn't do it on purpose but come on...a little common sense please!
As far as we can tell they pooped in the dining room. We only found one load. I have no idea where they peed. No smell. But for some reason our couches smell funny but not cat pee funny. who knows.
But my poor babies

oh that's terrible!!
is there any chance the wind closed them if the windows were open? our doors close on their own since they're light and we have to use doorstops on some of them.
your poor babies!

no chance, windows were closed. Besides, these doors would need to be closed by hand to latch. If they weren't latched I know my brain-i-acs would have been able to open them.
I'm tempted to call her just to complain but not sure what good that would do. I may leave her a note next week. I'm half tempted to tell her to come back and shampoo my couches. DH and I think they peed behind the couch and that is why it smells (because it sprayed onto the couch itself). Because now our other bathroom smells like it too and I can pinpoint it to the rug. So I think that is the pee.
Everytime I see them i just keep apologizing.

Re: I could Strangle the Cleaning Lady
OH NO I would be livid!!!!!!!!!
We once accidentally locked our cat in the den overnight (he snuck in while I wasn't looking) and I felt guilty for DAYS!
Honestly, that would be enough for me to find someone new. I'm sure some people would think that I'm overreacting, but you left her VERY specific instructions--thank goodness you weren't gone for too long, they could have died without food or water!!!!

I KNOW! I keep thinking that...although we would have had someone check in on them if we did. I can't even think about the what-ifs
I really am ****** about the whole thing...i have to keep her for now because I'm not in a situation where I could live without her DH will be home on Friday's now to "supervise" and then in September I'll re-evaluate. There have been a few other things I"m unhappy with too so maybe I should start looking for someone new.

I live in jersey unfortunately.
But that is an awesome price.
I'm pretty sure anyone can clean my shoebox in less than 2-3 hours...I'm paying $75 which I think is a lot for the lack of space that needs cleaning.
Thanks so much for thinking of me though

Re: I could Strangle the Cleaning Lady
I would get someone new, I'd call her and tell her why you're letting her go, and then find someone else. No one is worth keeping after that kind of disregard for instructions.
