If you are having a C-section...
How many days before your due date is it scheduled for? And if you don't mind answering - why are you having it?
My dr is concerned with my size (i'm extremely petite) and no one in my family has delivered vaginally - all c-sections.
TIA!

Re: If you are having a C-section...
My doctor told me that I'm having my section a week to a week and a half early. I'd just rather have a c-section..I had one the first time and I want to do it again.

Re: If you are having a C-section...
Mine was scheduled 2 weeks before my due date because there is no way I could go into labor. I ended up going in for an emergency c before my scheduled one though.

Re: If you are having a C-section...
My EDD is January 13th but my c-section is already scheduled for 1 week prior January 6....I chose to have another c-section (my DS was almost 10 lbs and thats what they did with him) because VBAC has too many uncertainties for me...My OB said they don't schedule more than a week ahead even for baby size, because big baby doesnt mean "done" baby

Re: If you are having a C-section...
My due date is Sept 10th and I am scheduled for a C/S on August 29th.
As far as picking the date, they only do scheduled C/S on Fridays and the next Friday on the calendar is too close to my due date.
They opted for a C/S this time because baby #1 was a C/S and they say that baby #2 sometimes is bigger. They are afraid of complications (not that I had any with baby #1...)
I wanted to try natural, but the doc (and DH) strongly suggested against it

Re: If you are having a C-section...
My due date is 8/3 and I'm scheduled for 8/1. For a repeat c-section, my hospital won't schedule it earlier than 39 weeks. I had an emergency c-section with DS, and they wanted me to do it again...and I'm fine with it.

Re: If you are having a C-section...
My dr. told me they will schedule me 9-11 days before my due date.... But you can't schedule with the hospital before 6-8 weeks of your due date. I'm having a c-section because DS was a section (breech) - I don't want a v-bac
With DS my c-section date changes three times

Re: If you are having a C-section...
My OB won't schedule them any earlier than 39 weeks. With my first, I scheduled for 39 weeks and he ended up having his own plan and coming at 37 weeks. I did have a c/s because he was breech.
with my second, I scheduled the c/s for 41 weeks. I was going for a vbac and my doc said he would only allow me to go 1 week late as I held out for the vbac. I ended up having her at 38 weeks (and a vbac ).

There is always a way for them to schedule it earler but your doctor may have to provide documentation for the hospital to approve and the hospital can require an amnio to check for the baby's lung maturity. My CS was scheduled 4 weeks before my natural due date because I had a very extensive prior surgery to my uterus and it was not considered safe for me to go into labor.
ETA_--sorry, I see that you were talking about repeat C-section. If that is the reason for the C-section, then it is up to hospital policy and your doctor would not be able to schedule it earlier unless there is an additional reason.

My due date is 9/15 and am schecduled for 9/5. I had an emergency c-section w/Hayley. I already know what to expect with a section...besides, if I try to do a VBAC and I get to a point where they say Sorry, you now have to have a c-section I will be pizzed

Re: If you are having a C-section...
I was due May 30th and they scheduled my repeat section for the 27th. The reason I needed one was because the baby was VERY high up and the doctor felt that just as it was with my first that this baby would not move down. Well I think she was right because he was so high up that they actually had to get onto the table and push him down

Re: If you are having a C-section...
I had a c-section on my due date due to the baby's size and my lack of progression towards a v-birth. DS was 9lb 14oz. We only scheduled a c-section 2 days before my due date. I wanted to see if I would go into labor on my own first.
Mine was a 1st time c-section. I think its different if its a repeat.

Re: If you are having a C-section...
If I go that route because I had one with #1, then it will be scheduled 8 days prior to my due date.

Re: If you are having a C-section...
This one is a repeat c (my doctor will not do a VBAC). I have not yet gotten the date but it will most likely be 1 - 2 weeks prior to my due date. They schedule it prior to your estimated due date because my doctor does not want me to go into actual labor.
