For those of you who have been induced

I may have to be next week and am a nervous wreck. My doctor briefly explained what the process would be like and basically said the entire process may take up to 27 hours Chat Icon. She also said I can have an epi with the Patocin so I won't be in complete agony for all those hours.

Was the induction that bad and exactly what can I expect?

TIA!

Re: For those of you who have been induced

When I was induced they started me with the Cervadil, and it got me completely effaced and dialted to 3cm in about 4 hours. When I got to 3 cm, they broke my water, and from there to 10 cm. it took about 6 or 7 hours. I didn't need the pitocin, and I didn't have an epidural.

Re: For those of you who have been induced

I had two inductions and they were the best experience for me. With my son, the 1st, I was a week late so I went to get induced and had the delivery. I went into the hospital on a sunday at 5:00, had cervadil at 8:00 and then delivered the next morning at 10:51 am. I got the epi first thing in the morning on Monday and didn't feel anything.

I actually asked to be induced with my second daughter. She was 4 days late and I was already 5-6cm when I went to the hospital so I didntneed the cervadil. I went in on Thursday at 11:00 am and gave birth around 8:00 that night. No pain at all, they had the aneshteliogist waiting for me when I went in so I could get the epi.

Both experiences were very positive.

my induction took 3 days...but in the end I gave birth vaginally. It wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't pleasant.

Re: For those of you who have been induced

I CHOSE to be induced both times, and plan on it for #3. It was a GREAT experience BUT I had also started dilating and effacing previous to the induction which REALLY helps to delivery naturally and helps the process.

With DD, we started around 10am and she was born 9pmish

With DS we started around 8am or so and he was born around 4:15pm the same day.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I had Pitocin and got my Epi's after they broke my water.

Re: For those of you who have been induced

I had an amazing experience. I was in duced at 39 weeks but I was NOT dialated at all

I went in on a monday night for the cervadil. They inserted that at 7pm, at 7am on tuesday morning, they removed the cervadil and started me on Pitocin. At 9am, they amped up the pitocin, I was still not dialated at all. I got my epi at 11am.....then at around 1:45pm, the doctor had some concerns about my dd being in distress so I had a c-section. My water was never broken by the doctor, DD was born at 2:23pm on Tuesday

I am hoping to be induced for a second time with this baby that's what a great experience I had. My body responded well to everything that my DD was born after 4 hours of light painfree labor and 5 pushes Chat Icon

I was induced with DS.....all told it was 28 hours BUT not 28 hours of active labor! I got the epidural about 1/2 way into it when the contractions really started to get bad and it was a good experience.

Re: For those of you who have been induced

I was unexpectedly induced for DD#3, and I was not effaced or dilated when I arrived at the hospital!
Like the other girls, they started with cervidil, then a pitocin drip. Because of no effacement, it did take a while (from 3pm until 7am), but it honestly was not horrible.

Good luck sweetie!!!

Re: For those of you who have been induced

I was induced and since it was my first pg and I dont know any better for me it was ok, I had cervidal 3x ( ouchy!) the second 1 fell out when I went to peeChat Icon. I also had pitocin after the third cervidal and finally started to dialate, I was not dialated or anything when I arrived at the hospital, cervix closed shut tight!
I went in thurs morning they started the cervidal at 11 am had DD the next day at 225pm. easy pushing, epi was great, vaginal delivery. overall it was ok, not great but after that third cervidal oh boy did I start to dialate and fast!

Re: For those of you who have been induced

After reading everyone's induction experiences I certainly feel a lot better!
I am scared crap, I hate hospitals, needles...etc. but I guess it's expected when you plan on having a baby! Chat Icon

Well, hopefully I won't need to be induced but something tells me I will be being I am not even dilated yet and my cervix is closed, nothing is happening down there at all and I'm due Sunday.

Thanks again for sharing your experiences with me and I hope to have a successful induction experience as well.

Re: For those of you who have been induced

Anything can happen in four days.

It took me 12 hours from start to finish with no pitocin an I was only a fingertip dilated when I went into the hospital.
