do you plan to have your dr. sign you out of work early?

a friend of mine is due june 28th and her last day of work was this past Friday.

my sister in law is due july 7th and plans to have her dr. write her out of work in about a week.

it got me thinking, when i will stop working before giving birth?
i'd like to think i'll give myself 3-4 weeks
but i guess it would have to be a disability leave

how about you?

My company doesn't offer maternity leave so I am hoping that I can work up until the day I deliver. My maternity leave will be the 6 weeks short term disability and 3 weeks of accrued vacation time.

depends on when things start to happen...but I may take a week before off.

I would like to go out a week or two before....but we will see as it gets closer to the date.

i stopped working 2 weeks ago due to some problems and i think disability is gonna cover it. then i get 6 weeks for a vaginal or 8 weeks for a c section and i have about a week and a half vacation i plan on using. ill be 36w thurs.

I will be working up until the day my water breaks.

I only get 3 months total of maternity leave (including 6 weeks disability) so i'd rather not waste any of it prior to the baby being here.

I'm planning on working till the end. Like the previous poster said I get 12 weeks and want to save it all for when the little one arrives.

Working till the end..I only get 6 weeks of unpaid leave. I can't afford to take any extra time off.

I am a teacher and I go back to work Sept 2nd. I am due Sept. 8th and I don't want to start a class and then not be there. I am going in on the 2nd (hopefully) to do the necessary paperwork stuff for the first day of school. After that I am not coming back until November.

It's going to depend on how I am feeling. As of right now I will be going P/T in August. However I have a very physical job where I am on my feet most of the day so I'm definately going to play it by ear. I will most likely be out by mid-September (due Oct 1).

well things dont always go according to a "plan". I had my last day with my job scheduled for May 23rd and I ended up going out on May 14th due to some minor issues and the dr. thought it was best to just rest. Im not due until June 12th. I didnt realize how much I was really over doing it until that first week home and how much better I felt, your body tells you when its time to rest. Do what you need to do for you and your baby's health.

Im due on August 28th. Summer school ends on August 15th. I am asking my doctor to "disable" me as of August 16th so I can start getting disability that much sooner.

I plan to work till 2 weeks prior to my due date, unless I feel awful or something goes wrong, then I'll go out early.
