What are reasons why you would be induced?
I'm noticing a lot of women on here are being induced earlier than their expected due dates.
I am curious to know what would cause this to occur?

I was scheduled for an induction when my water broke but had no contractions within 24 hours. I ended up with a c-section because I had not dilated more in the 24 hours and the baby was very high. My dr said he would induce me if I wanted him to, but there was a good chance that after laboring all day I'd end up with a c-section anyway.

I am being induced because I have 2 clotting disorders, and am on blood thinner.

Sometime people are induced b/c they think the baby is big (when they are pretty close to due date) BUT this isn't always the case. My SIL was induced b/c the baby was "very big" and her body wasn't ready so she never progressed...she eneded up having a c-section and the baby was 7lb 11oz

I was induced because of gestational diabetes. Most of the time it is because the baby is expected to be big, but my DD was measuring average. Apparently the standard of practice with GD is to induce at or before the due date regardless of size because there is supposedly some risk that the placenta will "crap out" as my OB put it. Personally, I think it is BS. I had very well controlled blood sugars, DD measured average and ended up weighing 7lbs 2 oz, and I had no other complications/issues/etc the entire pregnancy. But I can't complain, the induction was very smooth and fast!!!

same here but I only have one clotting disorder (MTHFR)
I was induced at 39 weeks

I was going to be induced at 39 weeks because my blood pressure was getting too high, but ended up having an emergency c-section once the baby's heart rate dropped during monitoring...never even got to the drugs for the inducement.

I was induced b/c she wasnt doing the breathing excersizes anymore and the fluid was lower than normal

I am scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks being I have chronic High blood pressure. My Dr feels if I go to 40 wks it will just cause undue strain on me and the baby.

I was induced b/c I was 5cm dialated and still not in labor..with my history of going quickly the doctor was afraid that I wasnt going to make it to the hospital in time.
