Re: does anyone still have trouble signing their wedded name?

I have trouble with it too! I'm a notary and haven't changed my name with the town yet, so I have to notarize everything in my maiden name but everything in my married name.
Not to mention my last name went from 6 letters to 10 letters complete with a Z in the middle, they look like y's

I still do. I've been married for almost 8 months. I changed my name on SS, license, etc, but never changed it at work so I still call myself Dana Maiden Name... I feel like I don't use my married name enough so I have not connected with it yet!

I don't usually screw up the signature, but I have a much harder time with initials! 9 times out of 10 I will initial something with my maiden last initial without even thinking. I blame it on lack of practice.

And finding my name on an alphabetical list is always fun, since I used to be way at the end of the list, and now I'm towards the beginning. I get it wrong every time.

never. I spent a lot of free time in HS practicing itChat Icon Chat Icon

but really, my maiden name and married name both start with O's...so I think that made it easy.

No, it took me a while but we've been married almost 5 years now.

Although recently I left a message at my dd's school about something and left my maiden name for some weird reason. Then I couldn't stop laughing in the message. They must think I'm a lunatic.

Re: does anyone still have trouble signing their wedded name?

Actually, no. Signing my maiden name is kind of hard now.

However, I've had a lot of practice signing my new name. I charge pretty much everything, so I'm always signing away.

Re: does anyone still have trouble signing their wedded name?

No...actually just the opposite.

Last week I had to sign my name several times as:
First Middle Last f/k/a First Middle Maiden....

Needless to say I had to actually "think" how to sign my name each and every time.Chat Icon

Yeah, because I retained my maiden name and added a hyphen with his last name.

It just plain maddens me to add his last name because it's such a ridiculous name, and literally EVERY SINGLE day I get made fun of because of it.

What is it, you ask?

Beer.

Yes.

BEER.

And to think, Dh wanted to name our child, if a boy, Guy.

I'm not joking.

I nixed that idea when I enlightened him to what would happen when they did roll call in class

"Beer....Guy"

"Beer...Guy"

"Beerguy"

I used to know a guy with that lastname when I was a teen in the Bronx. His name was Chris Beer.

Re: does anyone still have trouble signing their wedded name?

I am the complete opposite! Signing my married name is so natural to me. My problem is when I notarize a document because my stamp still has my maiden name on it and until I renew it, I have to make sure I sign my maiden name. I sign REALLY slow to make sure I put the right name. Chat Icon

LOL- I hyphenated my last name b/c I have such an irish first name and a very freckled face. And my husband has an italian last name...
I prefer to write out my hyphenated last name, but am trying to get used to writing just Messina on everyday documents.....
