Have to stop my head from racing...
Yesterday I went and got my BCP's, a ton of appts for different tests, and a whole folder of info on IVF and I got totally overwhelmed.
My mind couldn't stop racing with all of this info...
And I am totally jumping to conclusions and worrying about things I shouldn't even be worrrying about yet. Like, if everything actually works and I do get pregnant (40% chance) it will be the beginning of June and I have a vacation planned for July and would I be able to go or not (I have trip insurance so it really isn't that big of a deal, but the trip has been planned for 2 years), worrying about what I am going to tell work for the days off for the transfer, worrying about the progesterone shots and if DH isn't around one night what would I do, etc., etc....
I couldn't fall asleep with all this stuff going around my head last night. I almost wish I didn't have all the info at once. I keep telling myself I have to take it one day at a time and not worry about the 40% chance that I get pregnant and vacations and work and all this other stuff. Really, sometimes too much information is really just TOO much!
My new mantra...one day at a time and stop worrying about something that may not happen!
Just had to get that all out.

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
I can totally relate- my head has been spinning since yesterday morning and I feel like I'm walking around in a fog today. Good luck!!! I don't know how we're going to do it but if we manage to do IVF I'm sure I'm going to be overwhelmed also.
I know it's easier said than done, but do your best not to stress!!! Stress is never good

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
I'm with you - I keep having to tell myself to just take one day and one step at a time. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to manage this process as I'm about to start a new job, with a kid running around the house, and all the other stresses running through my head. I'm trying to keep track of everything we have to do...it is definitely overwhelming...

Take one day at a time; that is exactly what you need to do. I know it's not easy-I do the same thing. My mind is always racing ahead and worrying about every little thing.
Try to relax and enjoy the weekend.

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
I can totally relate. Even though I had been through it before, when I got that huge folder with all the info, I freaked!
I just read a little each day. Made it a lot easier when I broke it down like that instead of trying to ingest it all in one sitting.

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
I felt the same exact way, so you are not alone! I began this journey in February and began to feel so overwhelmed I couldn't sleep at night, I was constantly on the internet searching or reading posts on different IVF chat sites. What I did was get everything organized, I made folders for all the IVF information and then wrote all my appointments in a separate planner. I feel like every week I have something to do to get ready for July's retrieval, so the days are going by faster. Also, get a book on IVF so you are well informed about the drugs and procedures that you will have to do. This eliminated me going onto the internet constantly to search things out. I hope this info helps you! I also spray each night some lavender linen spray on my pillow, I feel that it helps me sleep more soundly.

What you are feeling is so totally normal ....Its fear of the unknown and I think we have all been there - IF has this evil way of invading every thought in some way or another- Definately one day at a time is the way to go...Its very overwhelming at first but once your "in" it , you actually start to feel better because you feel like your being active ....Good Luck !

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
First off I give you a lot of credit. I have been avoiding IVF eventhough my insurance covers it because I am afraid of how overwhelming the process is. I am sure you will be fine and look back on the process as if it was no big deal. Best of luck!

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
I feel the same way I am supposed to do this next ivf schedule and booked a vaca the first week of July and my head is totally spinning and with worry we will lose our deposit and I won't be able to go. The alternative would be to delay the ivf cycle but I REALLY don't want to do that. This process is so consuming like the other ladies said and its just so difficult. Thankfully we have each other.

It is so easy to get overwhelmed. I would just take a deep breath and get thru each step day by day.
Good Luck!!

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
What you are feeling is totally normal. I would go ahead with the treatments especially since you mentioned that your transfer is likely in the beginning of June. What type of vacation is it? How long is your trip?
AS for your employer, they don't have to know that you are doing IVF. I would just mention that you have to get a medical procedure done. They shouldn't question you.

Re: Have to stop my head from racing...
Thanks everybody...
After a busy weekend, I am feeling a lot better about everything. I am just going to take it one step at a time and go from there. Just set up all my meds to be delivered and have the sonohystogram on Wednesday.
I figure by the beginning of June all this craziness will be over and I have every intention of going on my vacation in July (pregnant or not pregnant unless some for some really crazy reason I can't). And if this cycle doesn't work, I am going to take the summer off to regroup and decide what to do next.
Good luck to everyone!!!
