In the UK the price of grain has gone up quite a bit, so the price of butter, eggs, and milk has really skyrocketed. We pay around £1.00 (thats $2) for the equivelant of 2 sticks of butter. It was only .72p (thats about $1.40) a few weeks ago.

it isn't you... it is very expensive- b/c of the cost of fuel and the growing demand for ethanol, which is made from corn- has sent prices of meat and grain products through the roof.
I find stop & shop to be super expensive where i am in NJ- I shop at shop rite- which is sort of annoying- not as new or clean- but they always have better pricing and better sales.
what has also helped is planning a weekly menu and making a list- this cuts down on impulse purchases and waste.
