so who else must de-clutter....

before their little bean is born?

We're in a 1 BR apartment... while we have a fairly large bedroom closet and a lot of under the bed storage space, we intend to deconstruct both areas this rainy weekend and do some serious purging Chat Icon

I know babies require tons of stuff.... and right now, there is no place to put any of it Chat Icon

anyone else already thinking about the inevitable storage issues?

Re: so who else must de-clutter....

i too am in a one bedroom and thought about doing this asap as well.. maybe you could list some things on craigs list that you dont need anymore and get some extra cash to buy the baby things. Im also thinking about going to target or home depot to look at different storage things for the closet to maximize our space. Goodluck with your spring cleaning and dont lift anything heavy!!

Re: so who else must de-clutter....

I am in a 4 bedroom HOUSE and we have to de-clutter!! I am an anti-clutter person but my husband and MIL are both "collectors". We have been working on massive clean up for the past 3 months. My BIL who moved out 2 years ago FINALLY came and picked up his crap. Chat Icon We are almost done de-cluttering, now we need new carpet and paint. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: so who else must de-clutter....

We have 2 bedrooms. And our 2nd bedroom was being used as a guest room/office.

If I could only explain how much crap we threw out I think people would be amazed.

We also managed to sell a bed and dresser on craigs list so it wasn't a complete waste! Chat Icon

Good luck with your cleaning session. Once you are done you will feel so relieved, I know I did.

Re: so who else must de-clutter....

This is what we did last weekend! I worked DH to the bone! We had some junk in our large basement, which is finished so it will be a playroom and it is storage too, and our old kitchen cabinets from when we re-did our kitchen.

I had DH clean out the garage, hang the old cabinets out there, put some stuff from the basement in them (should have been out there all along), and put up a huge shelving unit in the laundry room to store odds and ends. It made such a difference. Now just to spring clean the basement and it will be ready for so many of the things from my shower next weekend! Chat Icon

I did as much as I could to help, which wasn't much, and I was still so exhausted!

We have three bedrooms and I am completely unmotivated. I thought after the anio when I knew all was well, I would get my expanding arse to move a little. Nope. Havent started a damn thing. Havent registered. Im hoping that after we order the furniture next weekend, that it forces me into high gear. Doubtful.Chat Icon

Re: so who else must de-clutter....

My advice is to try to get to it in the second tri. I'm just into my third and can already feel myself slowing down a bit...just getting tired more easily.

Goldi, get registering! Once you start it can be so much fun!

We had to. We are also in a 1 bedroom apartment as we wait for our house to be built. We packed up about 40 plastic bins and are storing them at the IL's and now that my DD is home only 1 week we are running out of all the "extra space from the bins" at rapid speed!

We need to de-clutter as well the babys room is going to be the room that we now throw all of our junk into. Its horrible. I feel like a pig sometimes when I look in there Chat Icon But we are going to start soon to get rid of everything in there!

Yes, yes and yes!!!!!!

We are also in a one bedroom plus "den" which will be the babies room. What is killing me is that DH really has no idea how much space we need!!!!Chat Icon We need to start to have some major conversations. I am so overwhelmed by the thought of everything that has to be done.Chat Icon

Re: so who else must de-clutter....

We live in a house - but the room the baby will be in has been sort of a "storage room" for DH's overflow that didn't fit in our bedroom or his office (he has a lot of crap). So over the last few weeks we had to toss furniture, some of his stuff and move other things into other rooms to be stored. It's almost an empty room except for one little corner where we keep our dry cleaning bag (not sure where we'll be putting this - our bedroom and the laundry room are maxed out) and some other storage bins of DH's clothes. The man has clothes from 20 years ago that have "sentimental value", he's a pack rat. As soon as that stuff is out, DH has to steam the carpet, and the baby furniture should be here in the next 2 or 3 weeks for the most part.

This is SO true!! I have slowed down so much in my 3rd trimester. It is getting harder and harder to do anything. Try to get as much done as you can in the second trimester!
