Also, wearing flip flops all day sounds awesome!!!
i truly feel that this will be the highlight of my summer pregnancy
THAT makes me insanely jealous. My feet have been sweating profusely and I can't find a pair of comfy shoes that I can wear to work without socks or stockings. Flip flops would be a blessing.

Re: am i crazy?
I think I would rather have been pregnant in the summer. Would have felt so much more comfortable in skirts, tanks, and flips. I can't take the jeans, sweaters, coats, scarves, gloves, blah blah blah anymore! Then again, I am always like that about winter, pregnant or not.

Re: am i crazy?
I am due at the end of Sept. so I too will be pregnant all summer. To be honest, it would not have been my choice of seasons for my 7-9th month as I hate the heat as it is BUT I will deal. The only good thing is I have NOWHERE to be all summer. I am a teacher so school is out and although it will be hot I can spend my life in the pool or AC and just relax all summer long which will be wonderful. I am looking forward to having the time to myself before the baby arrives. It will be hot and I'm sure I will be uncomfortable but I will survive.

Re: am i crazy?
I'm due in late sept.... so I'll be a giant beach ball all summer long...
I expect to be hot and swollen.... but then again, I'll survive. I love the summer... it's much more bright and cheery than the winter.
even if it's in the evening, we can walk around and get an ice cream.... I hope my ankles aren't enormous, but I bet they will be I'll still enjoy the icecream

Re: am i crazy?
my first dd was born august 22nd and this one is due august 14th. i'm not going to lie it gets tough in the dead of summer, but it also has many positives.
i liked the fact that i could wear just a tank top, skirts and flip flops to keep cool. if you have access to a pool that was the best thing for me to do. i also liked that after the baby is born you have the entire winter to keep back into some type of shape before the summer rolls around again.
imo there are pros and cons no matter what time of year you are pregnant. just enjoy and make the best.
people do say some pretty dumb things!

Re: am i crazy?
DD was born in October and this one is due in May. I have to tell you DD was much harder to carry in the summer then this baby has been to carry in the winter. Being 8 months pregnant in August was not easy. You are swollen and tired and it's just not fun. But there are some positives to it also. You can wear sandals/open toed shoes. If your company allows you to not wear knee highs/pantyhose then you don't have to worry about that (my company has a strict policy on us having to wear them which I finally said F-it I'm pregnant). The weather is much nicer out so you can get out and take more walks. You don't have to wear layers of clothes.
But I have to say from my personal experience I like being pregnant more in the winter. I like that I'll be able to have some drinks on a hot summer day, I like that I never really get too warm. I like that I don't feel swollen and that the humidity is not making me feel any more disgusting then I have to feel. So I don't think you're crazy but I can understand why people do not have good things to say about being pregnant during the summer. It can be very difficult on certain days and if someone were to ask me which was better I would say the winter/spring pregnancy.

Re: am i crazy?
OMG I'm getting this too...I'm due the end of September and I live in NC, so the summers down here are brutal. I'm a teacher, so I'm actually looking forward to having all summer off to enjoy preparing for the baby. I am well aware of how hot it will be and how I may be uncomfortable. But you know what....man created Central Air and air conditioning...I'll be just fine!
and also, the baby will be here a few weeks before DH and I's bday and I couldn't think of a better bday present!
So just ignore the stupid comments!

Re: am i crazy?
Definately not. everyone says it to me too and I'll admit the first time was a little hard ( was born 8/29) b/c it was a REALLY hot summer that year. BUT there were some great aspects to it. I am always cold too and DH INSISTS on blasting the AC....well that year, it was ME blasting the AC . It's also soooooooooooo much easier to wear clothes. I bought a bunch of regular shorts that tied and wore them all summer. I liked it much better than layering on the clothes! I'll be right along with you, this one is due 8/22!!

Re: am i crazy?
Like Erin I have a summer and spring baby. I had DD in July so it wasn't the entire summber but I LOVED it. I had a ralphs ice right around the corner from my house and durning the day I would take a walk with him and on our way back stop and get it.

Re: am i crazy?
No you are not crazy. I'm due in Sept and I am thrilled! I have a pool and a/c and the weather will be nice for walks and excersize and no ice and snow around which could cause a slip and fall. And who the heck cares when we are due? We are having babies!!! I bet the ignoramus who made the comment never had an ounce of trouble trying to concieve or she would realize that a baby is a miracle anytime - summer or winter!

Re: am i crazy?
OOOOh that sounds nice. Bunch of happily plump pregnant women floating around drinking juice.
LB ... I'm due about the same time as you. I get the same comments. I am not looking forward to sweat in places I can't reach anymore or just icky sweat in general. I hate the heat, its why I thought I moved north! There's only so much you can take off if you get me.
I'm a bit different though since I have a one hour commute to the city each way and includes a subway trip. ICK To each their own i guess.
