am i crazy?
sooo many people, after finding out that i am due early september, say "ugh," or "you're going to be pregnant all summer," and my favorite - "you're going to be so uncomfortable."
rude comments aside am i insane for wanting to be preggo all summer?
i am always, always cold - and i am looking forward to not wanting to turn the AC off on my coworkers!
i am looking forward to walking around at dusk/night with my hubby to get italian ices.
i am looking forward to not having to wear layers upon layers of clothing and embracing my huge preggo body.
whatever, maybe i am insane - but seriously, people find the WEIRDEST stuff to make rude comments about!!

I was due in December and personally, I was thrilled not to be 8 or 9 months pregnant in the height of the summer. I normally run cold too, but with the pregnancy hormones, I was always hot and I think I still run warm 4 months PP.
I don't think people mean to be rude about this thing in particular, they may just be remembering their own experience with pregnancy and how they dealt with the heat of the summer.

Re: am i crazy?
You're definitely not crazy.
I'm not all that jazzed up about being hugely preggo in the summer, but only because I hate my arms and am not looking forward to having to expose them to the world in tank tops. I'm also not looking forward to our electric bill if i need the AC's on whenever I'm home. Last summer we managed to use our ceiling fans more than the AC, but i don't think that will be the case this summer. I do think it will be nice though to be able to wear light clothes instead of bulky sweaters.

Re: am i crazy?
I have a September baby and a May baby, so I have allllll seasons covered. I loved being pregnant with my 1st throughout the summer. I was a teacher so I had all summer off by myself to do whatever I wanted to do...even if that meant laying around in AC all day long. My DH and I would go out about 4 nights a week for iced coffee. Oh, and the maternity clothes? IMO, MUCH nicer than the winter ones! And what can you say about wearing flip flops the entire 3rd trimester!! Yeah, I got comments, but so what? The whole summer was the best. Ahhh...memories!
Here's my bottom line: being pregnant with #1 during the summer=awesome. Being pregnant with #2 during the summer=not so much, probably! Also, I enjoyed my summer pregnancy better, but my spring baby better! We had all summer long to get out instead of being stuck in with a newborn...

You are not crazy! I am due November 4 and will be pregnant all summer as well.
As someone who as struggled to be in this condition, I don't care what months it's in as long as I make it and everyone is healthy!

Re: am i crazy?
You are not crazy, I've had a few of these comments as well, but in reality, I love being in summer clothes better anyway. So being 6, 7, 8 months preggo in the summer won't be the worst thing in the world.
Don't worry!!

Re: am i crazy?
Yes, you're crazy - but that has nothing to do with wanting to be preggo all summer.
Funny that you mention it though. When people ask my due date and I say "July 2nd" they respond "You are so lucky you won't be preggo in the summer."
And I never really got that. Everywhere you go nowadays anyway has air conditioning. And, I have a gorgeous pool in my backyard. So what would be the big deal anyway?

thanks for all the responses girls honestly i think people look for any excuse to make a comment.
to all the idiots out there: we are all THANKFUL to be pregnant and we are willing to deal with WHATEVER that entails - even if it means sweating a little more.

Re: am i crazy?
I was due in November (had baby in Sept.) and was pg throughout the summer. I didn't think it would be that bad, but by July I had had it. I was uncomfortable and hot. I'm normally cold too, but its like my body temp went up 10 degrees.
As for the comments, people will say anything about everything when you are PG. It's not fun, but it comes with the belly.

Re: am i crazy?
I agree with what Jess said... My due date is July 16th and most people said, "oh be thankful you won't be pregant in the height of the summer"... I was like, WHO THE HELL CARES! Air conditioning, pools, sprinklers, what have you. We all find ways to make it work.
I'm always cold too, being 25 weeks, I'm still cold all the time. This baby hasn't found the strength to warm her mommy up just yet.
People are morons and will say stupid things. Just smile and say, I'm thankful to have a healthy baby and I'll deal with it. End of story.

ITA!! I don't think people mean for this to be a rude comment although it may come off as one. People say to me all the time I'm so lucky to not be due late in the summer.
I agree that people may be just thinking of their own experiences.
I'm in my last month and I'm having a bit of a tough time and yes, I think the summer would have made it more unbearable for me. For example, I am a person who is ALWAYS cold (think 78-80 degrees and I'm asking for a light sweater). Being PG, I'm sweating. All the time!! It's insane. I wake up at night with my sheets soaked in sweat.
Also, my legs, feet, ankles, and hands have swollen to disgusting proportions. I would be embarrassed to put on a pair of shorts or a cute skirt/maternity dress at this point and I would hate to have to wear maternity pants pulled over my already huge belly in the heat.
That being said, my SIL loved being PG in the summer. She said being in the pool felt great (imagine floating and having all that weight you're carrying melt away). and swimming reduces water retention.
Also, wearing flip flops all day sounds awesome!!!
