Re: Those with Multiple cats
I have 2 cats and 3 litter boxes. We use crystal litter. I used to have two but then one of the cats started peeing on the rug we HAD. She prefers fluffy rugs and now we cannot have a fluffy rug. The vet told us it is a good idea to get another box while this was happening. I don't know if it has helped b/c we took the rug away and always pick up our bath mat after a shower so there is no opportunity for her to pee on a rug, but she hasn't done it on anything else so that's good.

Re: Those with Multiple cats
I have 3 cats and 3 litter boxes They all use them all.
Two are crystals and One is clumping clay
All are covered.
One is a 'corner' box that fits in a corner so its a little larger.
One is an ordinary one
One is a smaller sort of self cleaning type with a little grate in it that you flip the whole thing over and it catches the deposits. Ha! that never worked. So we just took out the catch tray for more room so that litter box has an entrance and a window LOL
All boxes are cleaned out at the end of each day and rotating schedule for complete dump, scrape, clean, new litter.

Re: Those with Multiple cats
My family used to have 2 cats - and we had one box with the clumping litter that we cleaned once or twice a day.
We never had accidents outside the box until they got really old and sick.

Re: Those with Multiple cats
We have 2 cats, they share a litter box. I use Fresh Step and scoop every day. It's the covered box.
I hate it But I admit the Fresh Step is the best I've every used in terms of masking the odor and clumping.

Re: Those with Multiple cats
We have three cats and two litter boxes. One is upstairs and one is downstairs. They tend to only use one of them, sometimes it switches off which one they use. We use arm and hammer High performance litter, it is great
