Re: what computer do you have?
I have an Intel based computer. I built it myself and I upgrade it regularly. It is a Quad Core Intel chip with 4 gigs of memory and 1 terabyte of disk space.
But I also have an IBM and HP laptop. IBM laptop is for personal use and HP is work.

can't/won't get used to using a one click mouse or the operating system.
You can set the mouse up to be left AND right click.
I just got a brand new iMac for Christmas and i love it! It didn't take me long at all to switch from PC to Mac,and I find it very user friendly. All my graphics programs areMac based, I love never having to worry about a virus.
I work on PCs all day long so I know both sets really well. There are definitely some things I miss about a PC, but overall I really like my MAC.

Re: what computer do you have?
Mac all the way
I have been on Mac's my whole life, and when i started a job where i had to use a PC, i felt like i had to learn a whole new language where nothing made sense. Just trying to do a simple task would leave me so frustrated because nothing worked according to logic. Mac's are soo incredibly user friendly and the biggest benefit of all - no viruses.. EVER. just doesn't happen because the people who spend time building viruses don't bother to make them for macs because the majority of people own pc's and they reach a bigger audience with pc viruses.
Finally got a Mac at work again, and i'm happy as can be.
of course, its a matter of opinion and what you're used to.

Re: what computer do you have?
I guess this is as good a topic as any to make my first post. So hello!
Right now, I'm using a desktop that I built myself. Probably took 12 hours worth of labor between picking out the parts, and assembling everything (not as difficult as one would think, but also not cake), but in the end it was definitely worth the effort.
I think my next purchase will probably be a notebook as I find myself out more often these days. My cousin has a MacBook Pro and those are really nice, but Dell has some good ones too.

Hello and welcome! I'm usually not on this side much- I'm usually over on the parenting board but this side is so helpful too when it comes to topics like this. Looking forward to "chatting" with you! I am impressed with your ability to build your own computer.

For what its worth, its easier sometimes just to let a company build it (or what you see in stores)
I build computers also..if you are intrested, i could point you in the right direction. For lower end stuff tough, you may as well buy one...
Keep in mind with all the different companies out there, they are using almost the same parts. Since i'm a computer person, i can careless for there tech support. Other then support, these machines are almost identical (if you look at simlar models)
If I don't build myself..i would buy a dell just because the cheap factor. HP on avg cost a little bit more. Most of there pc's are design to be a media hub.
Mac's are great in a sense if its operation and there processes are streamline. Windows does the same thing but nobody notices are cares. Not sure why cause Vista has alot of feaures built in but some people just like to be different owning a Mac. A computer is a computer at the end of the day. Mac vs PC is about preference and maybe how you grew up. If you change, there will be a trasnsition period where you have to figure out things but if you are fimilar with computers, it wouldn't be horrible.
Good luck in your search..

We have an Alien at work for some client presentations! Thing freaks me out with the glowing eyes.
It also weighs about 35 pounds between the battery pack and the computer. It came with a backpack to carry it! I feel like we're going camping when I carry it!

The thing is heavy, but DH needed it for performance. He actually went and bought a new briefcase to accomodate it, moreso for traveling.
