Just got back from the Dr.....

I failed my Glucose test.... Now I have to go for my 3 hour one.. what a joy! I think I failed because I ate lot of pasta the night before, and also had toast that morning, just to have something in my stomach before I had that nasty drink.

Hopefully I pass the 3 hour one! I'm staying away from carbs and sweets before that test!

Has anyone taken the 3 hour test? and if so how did you go that long without eating? I can't eat after 12am, then for another 3 hours while they test me which will be most of the morning.... I'm gonna eat my arm!

I did the hr one the other day and didnt eat from 12 am the night before until 4pm that night I was sooo freakin hungry.

I also failed my 1 hour. Then ddin't eat for, I believe 12 hours before the 3 hr. I was STARVING when I left. But luckily I passed Good luck.

I just did mine on Tuesday. I stopped eating at 10 pm on Monday night and started the test at 9 am on Tuesday morning. By the third hour I was starving and I actully brought tuna fish to eat as soon as I left the lab.

I took the 3 hr. ITS AWFUL!!!!! I nearly passed out, it was torture and I was STARVING the entire time since you can eat that morning. Do it as early as possible in the am... Good luck!

Definetly bring something with you to eat as soon as you get out.

When I was pregnant w/Hayley, I took mine in a lab that was very hot in the middle of summer...I almost passed out in the waiting room. I had to go in the back where it was cooler.

I have to go for my 1 hr soon even though I am only 10 weeks, the Dr wants to monitor me early on since I had GD last time.

I also failed my 1 hour..... I think it was because I ate Lentil soup 1 hour before the test...but who knows so then I had to do the 3 hour at a lab I could not eat anything after 12AM so I made my appt really early 6AM but that morning before the 3 hour I said f this and had a bite of a banana and a glass of water... I passed!

I took the 3 hour test and i was preggo with twins ..it was hard..i took the test at like 9am in the morning and then you drink that nasty drink and it fills you up a little...good luck

i had dinner around 7 or 8 pm and arrived at the doctor's at 9 am. there was a wait for the initial blood test, so i didn't drink the drink until 10 am. didn't eat untill 1:00 pm.

in truth, for some reason the 1 hour one was much worse for me than the 3 hour. probably had to do with the bee-yotch in the waiting room at the 1 hour who was drinking a big fat starbucks latte in front of me *and* the sign that says "no food or drink, please" and i could smell it and it smelled like heaven. i was not dying of hunger in the 3 hour like i thought i would be.

I took the 3 hour. My appointment was 7am, so I had dinner the night before (plain chicken and some veggies) and I drank water the rest of the night.

I was told to fast 10-12 hours.

I did not take the 3-hr so I have no advice, but what you eat prior should not matter, in the end it's how your body handles and rids itself of the sugar.

ugh, so sorry.
I was told it doesnt matter what you eat before or not eat- you either have GD or not. what you eat is not going to m ake a difference, again only what the doctors all told me.
I failed the 1 hour and the 3 hour taking the 3 hour was not fun!
but honestly having GD itself wasnt bad, it was having to take insulin 2x day that sucked.
look at it this way if you do fail and have to watch what you eat- it isnt bad and you will loose weight too- safely during your pg which in the end makes it 100x easier to loose all of the baby weight pronto. It also makes you wiser to food and more concious of what you put in your mouth and for future health smarts too.

dont worry, its really not that bad
