Sorry, but yes, you are being somewhat of a brat. People do not owe you a gift. Giving a gift is something nice to do, NOT a requirement.

Is it at all possible that the reason why said person (or people) could not attend is because they could not afford to give you a gift?

Chalk it up to hormones and RELAX!

I agree.

Some people send gifts if they cannot attend, but not all do..and it also depends on your relationship with the person. I was invited to a shower last year for the wife of a friend who I see like once every few years and I only met the wife at their wedding and my own. I could not go, didn't know one single guest so I didn't have anyone to send a gift with and I honestly have not seen them since or ever met the baby (a year later) so I did not send a gift. I don't feel bad. I think of them as my "x-mas card friends," but it would have been different if it was someone I was actually tight with.

Also, less than a week has gone by so maybe they are waiting until they see you so they can give you your gift in person. That's what I would do if I had a gift for a friend whose shower I could not attend.

I had things purchased from my registry and I never got them...I am still waiting almost 3 years for my friend to send me my shower gift Chat Icon She swore she had a gift for me...LOL

same thing happened to me i got married in '06, LOL

That is pretty funny...I had 2 no shows from my wedding in '05 who told me they had a card & gift for me. Have not receive them yet. It's '08. I didn't care, but thought it was amusing that they made it a point to say they had something. Chat Icon

Yes you are. You do not invite people to a party and expect gifts. You invite them to share in your celebration. If they bring a gift, even better.

Maybe you'll get gifts from these people once the baby is born...
