Please tell me if I'm being a brat!
I had my baby shower this past weekend a few people could not make it..okay whatever...But dont you usually send gift(they could have sent it with someone) OMG am i being a BEEEYOTCH??? I dont know I thought if you are invited to an affair and cant make it you should still send a gift..I would.

Maybe they are waiting until the baby arrives. I didn't get gifts from my friends who couldn't make it to my baby brunch. I think they are waiting until the baby is born.

not everyone sends gifts if they can't make it. Some do. But not all.
Plus you'll be surprised. You may get some late or they couldn't give it to someone to give to you, etc.

I had my shower on Saturday and some friends who couldn't attend sent gifts, some did not. I always send a gift if I cannot attend, but I guess it's not required.

I had a shower on Sunday I could not go to and I did not send a gift. I'm waiting until this week to get her gift. It's either a crib or a carseat so once I had to work and could not go I decided to wait and see what she got 1st. Some people like to give a larger gift after the shower or once the baby is born

i dont think people always send gifts if they cant attend a shower- there were plenty of people who did not make it to my bridal shower and we never got a gift- even when they said they had one for us... also, i know sometimes i will just hold onto it until i see them next, that way i can give them the gift in person...

same here. However was it that they RSVP coming and then couldn't make it due to something or they said from the beginning they could nto go? If that is the case there is no need to expect a gift.

Ditto for me. I will always send a gift if I can't make it to the function.
But some people just don't follow that etiquette.
Or, they may be waiting to give the gift until they see you. Some people like to be there when the gift is opened.

Sorry, but yes, you are being somewhat of a brat. People do not owe you a gift. Giving a gift is something nice to do, NOT a requirement.
Is it at all possible that the reason why said person (or people) could not attend is because they could not afford to give you a gift?
Chalk it up to hormones and RELAX!

I had things purchased from my registry and I never got them...I am still waiting almost 3 years for my friend to send me my shower gift  She swore she had a gift for me...LOL

That happened at my bridal shower and my wedding. The hard thing was that it was family that didn't send gifts. It doesn't have to be anything big, it's really just the thought.

I always send a gift if I don't go to a shower/event but to come on here and complain about it is a bit bratty...sorry. I also don't expect anything from people. I had people come to my bridal shower and wedding empty handed. People do what they can do and what they want to do, they are not obligated to do anything when it comes to a gift.

I don't think you should expect a gift, because a gift, is well, a gift.
I personally don't send a gift if I can't make something, but usually it depends on the relationship with the person and myself.
I had people not show up at my bridal shower and tell people to tell me they had a gift for me. I figured if they sent it, great, if not, no sense in waiting for it.
