Re: How did you pick your hospital and
My OB is across the street from the hospital so it was a given I would deliver there.

I chose my OB first, and they only deliver at 1 hospital so my choice was made for me....

Most LI hospitals are good, I would only stay away from South Nassau.
I'm delivering at South Nassau. I like the private rooms and that is where my doctor is affiliated. My best friend delivered both of her children there.
Just curious why you wouldn't recommend S.N.
i am as well and i wouldn't have it any other way.
it would be nice if you make a statement like that to tell why you feel so strongly as many people are delivering there. your answer won't change my mind, but it's always nice to know information

Re: How did you pick your hospital and
I didn't really "pick", my doctor told me where I was going to deliver... that's where he's affiliated. Turns out I'm satisfied with that anyway b/c I'm high risk and the hospital is NSUH.

My thought exactly. I'm excited to deliver there but I would like to hear the why? you know? Just curious.

Re: How did you pick your hospital and
I switched Dr's very eary on, I was supposed to deliver at another hospital in Nassau (don't want to offend so not mentioning) but I am happy to be delivering at Winthrop now. It is recommended by many women I know. I can't wait!!

Re: How did you pick your hospital and
My doctor delivers at Winthrop so that was it for me.
I actually liked the strict visiting hours at Winthrop. My friend delivered at North Shore a month before me and she said the visiting hours were so liberal that she got no rest at all after having the baby. There were people in and out all day from 9am to 10pm. She was breastfeeding and had no notice at all when someone would be walking in.
I liked that it was just me and DH and the baby for most of the day and glad that the baby wouldn't get exposed to germs.
