stupid question ?
After reading the last post about the pug and walking thru a pet store today:
Where do the dogs go that don't get sold ?
I've always wondered and I think someone on here knows the truth!
I saw a 5 month old mastiff today, he was taller than me when he stood up. And I wondered," what is going to happen to you?"

I managed a pet store for about 7 or 8 years. THe store i worked for would lower the price. If the dog was not sold then he/she would be placed with someone who worked there or a family member or friend of someone who worked there. Or even the vet would take them. I can't vouch for all pet stores but this is what the one i worked for did.
ETA: Not a stupid question. I wonder the same thing about some of the other pet stores out there.

In addition to what luckysmom mentioned, some send their dogs to the pound. If they are lucky they can get a no-kill shelter to take them.

I forget who said it, maybe it was LifeIsGood, but I believe some pet stores send the pups they can't sell to shelters.

As if the shelters dont have enough homeless dogs
Pet stores should be shut down. PERIOD!
