WWYD?
My boss' boss is having a double mastectomy tomorrow. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has been tested positive for the BRAC (sp)gene so she has decided to remove both breasts. I'm so sad for her and truly concerned. I only know her for a few months and we have no relationship whatsoever other than scheduling appts and talking to her on the phone when she calls my boss. I've been out to dinner with her as a group and we just to know each other on a very superficial level.
I would like to send something or just tell her that I will be thinking of her during these next few weeks as she deals with this.
Any thoughts about what I could do?
I haven't spoken to my boss yet about it.
eta: she's very senior in the firm.

Re: WWYD?
I would talk to your immediate boss and see if you could go in on something with her perhaps?

Re: WWYD?
I would probably make a donation to breast cancer research in her name and send her a thinking of you type card with a pink ribbon or something similar. It doesn't feel right to send something personal to someone you are not too close with, especially some so senior in the firm.

that's a great idea. I don't want to infringe on her during this time. It's very personal and tragic.

Re: WWYD?
I would make a donation in her name and send something a bit more 'impersonal' (which I think is appropriate for this type of thing) Send her an arrangement of pink flowers or a basket of 'goodies' for when she goes home -
