I'm not crazy about it, but you should go for whatever you like. Don't worry about anything else. Other names that have the flavor of Lucille:
Lucy
Lucinda
Lillian
Luz

Well...my Grandmother's name is (was) Lucille and where I don't like it for a 1st name... we chose it for DD's middle name.
I do like Lucy though.

I like it.
I like unusual names. I also like names that can "grow" with the child. You can give her a cute nick name like Lucy when she is little... but when she (for example) becomes president of a firm, people would refer to her by the more proper sounding Lucille.
I say go for it.

i love the name lucy after my grandma but DH doesn't agree

Maybe it could be a middle name. It sounds like a senior citizen name.
How about a variation: Lucy, Lulu or something like that?

Thank you everyone for your honest feedback. If we went with it we would probably name her Lucille and call her Lucy. Like I said we're unsure because we don't love it and we don't hate it. With Kiera it was easy because we both loved the name.
I keep telling myself that yes it's an "older" name but there are a lot of popular names that are older names so maybe Lucille will be popular in a couple of years.
My BF growing up was named Emma-- not a popular name back then, although I always liked it. Her parents were worried that it was an "old lady" name but she was named after someone special-- and now look at how popular that name is!
I think you should go with your heart. If Lucille is the name you want, then go for it. People will think that the name is beautiful because your DD is

I like it. It's a traditional name.... it's familial, and pretty. I like that name much more than many popular names today... I hate to say it, I don't even know the genders of half of the names I keep seeing pop-up 
maybe I'm just out of it.

Thank you everyone for responding. Lucille is on our list of possible names. I'm happy to see so many people that liked it and like the name Lucy. I know I'm not going to keep everyone happy but I just wanted some honest feedback as to what people think of the name.
I will let everyone know as it gets closer if we decided to go with the name as a first or middle name.

My first reaction is that it is the name of B.B. king's guitar 
I don't love the name as a first name, but I like Lucy and I like Lucille as a middle name.
