WWYD?

History: For the holidays my boss wanted to give me something that was indulgent since I've had a rough year. She didn't know what to get me so she told me to pick. She gave me ideas about what she was thinking about but couldn't make up her mind.

So she suggested a spa day with my mom or a friend, or a weekend getaway with DH..etc..something along those lines. She didn't give me a dollar amount but I have a general idea considering the resorts she suggested.

So after much deliberation DH doesn't like the wintry resorts in the Berkshires or Vermont because it's cold but I thought it would be fun and romantic. Big Veto! So we decided we could go to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods..cool. I checked out the entertainment and really didn't see a show I liked.

So he tells me yesterday that some friends of his are going to AC Friday night to see a show and it's also a celebration of one of their bachelor/bachelorette parties..so we could see a show together and have dinner and have breakfast the next day and then we would enjoy the rest of the weekend (one more night) alone.

Not how I wanted to spend this very generous gift from my boss. I said no, thank you. He couldn't understand it. Also, I'm really not friends with these people even though I know them for years. These are people he works with and are nice enough but not people I want to hang out with.

He hung out with a bunch of people that I am friends with but he is also friends with several of them. They email and talk on the phone, so not the same thing.

I told him he could go without me, realy. I have no problem. I also told him that if we did go, we would leave Saturday. I don't want that to be my indulgence gift that my boss offered. That just doesn't feel like it's for me. It feels like it's for them and the guy getting married.

Either way, doing this for a night and a day would cost a lot and right now is not the time to be spending $1000 on a trip I don't even want to go on.

I wanted a weekend away with DH.

Re: WWYD?

Screw DH....I would definitely go with the weekend getaway in VT. or the Poconos....Romance wins, hands down!

Let him go to the bachelor party...and then go to the Poconos with you another weekend.
I wouldn't want to waste it on a bachelor weekend in AC either.

Re: WWYD?

it would be guys and girls too but these are people I am really not close to. He had a similar situation years ago and I went and I hated it.

Also, we don't have a lot of free weekends together since we work a lot. We should spend it with people he sees all the time? The one weekend we are not working he wants to spend it with people he works with? Yes, he likes them and they have a good time..then go...leave me out of it.

Oh, and he's been to AC with them before. He doesn't like to gamble and when we used to visit mom and dad in AZ he never wanted to go to the casinos.

Re: WWYD?

It's this Friday they have tickets for this show they want to see.

I can't get it together that fast and wouldn't be able to pull a friend in that fast for next weekend.

It's not a bachelor party per se, just a gathering of friends and it happens to be a good time to do the bachelor/bachelorete thing for them. Well goody for them..

He is not going. He doesn't want to go without me.

I just can't get him to understand that is not how I wanted to spend my gift from my boss. I've had a pretty crappy year and it's not getting much better at the moment..

it's just bugging me that I am not being flexible about it. Am I nuts? It's still a weekend away technically.

Re: WWYD?

Spemd the girt opn yourself and a friend or your mom or someone who has been extremely supportive of you during this last year with Freddy.
Dh gave you a hard time for a bit about it and your boss did sa she wanted to do soemthing to help ou relax.
I don't know, sounds like a nice time to maybe stay in a hotel and get some massage and spend some much needed time on yourself by yourself.

Re: WWYD?

no way!!!!! this is supposed to be a weekend for you and him, not a weekend for him to hang out with his buddies and party.

I would ask him 1 more time for a weekend getaway. if you guys can't agree on something, take your Mom to a day at the spa Chat Icon
