sweet 16s
One of DHs family members is an event planner. She called tonight asking my DH (a videographer) if he would be interested in filming some upcoming Sweet 16 parties. She gave him a price that I think is extremely low and wanted to know if anyone could tell me about how much videographers make on events like this. DH and I were living in Queens and he was doing a lot of Manhattan gigs where things seemed to be a lot more $. It doesn't have to be a sweet 16- just any type of event (ie: retirement, anniversary... but probably not wedding since i know everything's much more expensive when it's wedding related.) TIA!

I don't know....but I would call/email a few videography places and pretend you are price shopping for a Sweet 16, that'll give you an idea of the going rate.

Re: sweet 16s
I agree, I think calling some videographers and asking how much for a Sweet 16. Its gotta be cheaper than wedding being they aren't filming for as long (ie getting ready, cermony). My guess would be $750-$1500, but again that's just a guess

Re: sweet 16s
Can your DH's family member give you some guidance in pricing?

I think 4 hours of filming. No idea what extras- that what DH and i were trying to figure out. Straight shooting and handing over the footage and being done for the event should be 1 price and then editing should be a totally different price since there's a lot more work in that. That's where my DHs family member doesn't seem to be on the same page as us.

I think my friend paid around $4-500 for raw footage and a recap with music for a 4 hour party.
It's stinks when you have to deal with family, which is why it's just better off not doing anything and offering them a referral of other places to go to.
