It's noon and I have the Sunday Blues

I hate my job. I hate the place I work for. I hate the environment around me. I should seriously take a picture of what my desk looks like because you would never believe me if I described it. For a company that is 9 yrs old and has at least half a million in the bank everyday you would think the work environment would be at least a little more comfortable for those who spend 8 hours of their day practically chained to their desks.

My desk is the size of a shopping cart. On my desk is my monitor and phone. that is all that can fit. I wanted to put my in box on my desk but theirs no room for it. I have 2 side drawers and my tower is under my desk. I barely have room for my legs. It is very tight. My chair is extremely uncomfortable. A midget could barely fit in it, let alone an average size person.

Friday we werent allowed to take lunch. HR ordered lunch for us. Their was extremely urgent circumstances that had come up and it was all hands on deck. Great for those that are hourly b/c they got OT, but not me. I am salaried. So all I got was a free lunch.

I really want to call in sick tomorrow as I have an interview at 11, but my conscience wont allow me. We have a new manager starting tomorrow, it's a short week, and everyone there knows I am miserable about this move and I dont want to start off on too much of a bad foot (the current manager spoke very highly of me and was the biggest supporter of bringing me into the group) even though I am looking to leave.

It's noon and I dont want to go to work tomorrow

If you do go to work, are you going to be able to go to the interview at 11. If it is a step in the right direction, then I say don't go in. Everyone needs Mental Health days. It sounds like you could use one! Chat Icon

Re: It's noon and I have the Sunday Blues

Thanks. I just have to tell them I have an appointment. It shouldnt be a real problem. I am technically not on the phones yet so it's not like it's going to be a big loss on coverage.

Any way to get out of this company is a step in the right direction.

You're right I definately do need this mental health day Chat Icon

If you took off Wednesday, that would be different in my opinion, but Monday, GO FOR IT!!!!!

Re: It's noon and I have the Sunday Blues

Thanks everyone.

The more I think about it the more I am leaning to calling in sick.

I am really nervous about this job interview. I have to do a microsoft test. I havent done a test in years. I am good on the programs but when it comes to testing my ability I freeze. I dont think about doing something, I just do it. Now to take a test and think about how I do something makes me Chat Icon

I am keeping my fingers crossed that my time their is not too much longer.

On a little positive note, I got 2 phone calls for interviews. this one that I am going to and another for a rental car company. Unfortunately the rental car one I had to turn down b/c the hours were not really great (4pm - 12:30am), it's in the airport and I would have to work weekends and holidays. Not exactly my cup of tea. Both those calls came in within 2 days of sending out dozens of resumes. So I am hoping that is a good sign of calls to come and a sign that this job search wont be too long
