I wish I knew of some, I will ask my sister she might know of some. The best Italian cookies I have ever had are at Dortoni's in levittown- I know that is probably too far for you.

Re: Huntington Area Bakery for
There's an italian bakery/food store in the same shopping plaza as Off The Wall: Fiorello Dolce
Mr. Sausage carries italian cookies as well, but they're not baked in-house. I believe most of the cookies come from Brooklyn.
There's also the original Cardinali in Syosset. (I used to like the Cardinali in HV, but once it was under new ownership, it definitely went downhill and ultimately had to close.)

LOVE Fiorello!! Excellent and great prices.
The Syosset Cardinali is not affiliated with the one that used to be in HV. I actually liked the one in HV - though I only got pignoli cookies from them and the occassional loaf of italian bread.

I knew they weren't affiliated, but I was under the impression the Syosset location was there long before the HV location. I know the HV location had gone through at least one sale b/c I met and spoke with the 2nd owner. I don't think the place remained open very long under the 2nd owner...maybe a year at most. I had no problems with their food, but the place got really dirty...plus the fact that they couldn't obtain the liquor license to reopen the bar.

Re: Huntington Area Bakery for
May be to far but there is a new bakery that just opened in Commack in the Northgate Center, called Casa Dolce. It is owned by the people that own Casa Rustica, and its excellent. Torta Fina on motor parkway in commack, is also good.
