For an IUI...

Does an RE need to do this? Or can a reg OBGYN do it?

Do you have to be on Clomid?

I have done lots of searches for it... but I am not really getting the answers I was looking for... It seems that everyone who had IUI's are on Clomid... but isn't that a drug to help you O?

Re: For an IUI...

Not everyone is on Clomid for an IUI, but most RE's will use it because you can get a better quality egg or more eggs with Clomid....so it increases your chances of getting PG.

Re: For an IUI...

You can check with your OBGYN, and more importanly your insurance coverage. My gyn did my first two cycles (on clomid) IUI's in her office. We had some insurance issues because apparently my insurance only covers IUI done by a RE. We had to pay out of pocket.

Re: For an IUI...

My gyno did 2 of my IUI's as well, and I was also on Clomid.

Re: For an IUI...

if you ovulate on your own you should not need stimulating meds I was told that the NP in my RE office was going to do it I decided not to do it though

Re: For an IUI...

I actually ovulate on my own, but was put on clomid to increase the # of follicles, which increases your chances of conception.

We had ours at the RE and I did not use Clomid.
