would you be offended/upset?

last year i had a halloween party and i am going to have one again this year.

alittle background info, all of us at owrk are good friends, even our bosses. we all hang out together.

so, i was telling ym boss/friend and she was like "maybe we'll have one because we have a big space"

ummmmmmmmm...... what? im just upset cuz then ppl have to decide which one to go to.

and then evenm if i was like "cool, easier to let her do it" then its weird because i like to decorate (she said she wont) and make a special playlist and dance and be silly and i wouldnt feel comfortable in her home with HER firends.
which is the other thing, i cant really invite my friends then.

i dont know, how would you feel?

maybe she wont even do it.

I wouldnt be offended, I would just get my invites out faster. No law says you can't have two parties.

If you really want to have a party, tell your friends before she does!

Maybe she didn't think she was invited?

If she mentions it again, I just said, "oh , no , you have to come to mine! It wouldnt' be the same with out you."

If she doesn't mention it, just get your invites out soon & make sure everyone knows all the bar people are invited.

I wouldn't be offended, especially if you have friends who would go to your party who wouldn't go to hers. I'd suggest just having them on different nights. Chat Icon

I agree...

You were talking to her about having YOUR Halloween party and she just non-chalantly decides SHE might throw one too...meanwhile you were just telling her about yours...I find that very rude of her.

Are you sure she is doing it on the same night that you are? Maybe you can do it on alternating nights (Fri/Sat).

If she knows when you are doing it and still plans on doing it on the same day, I would be pizzed.

I wouldn't be offended as long as she invited you. Maybe she feels the same way as you (uncomfortable being herself at her own home with all of her friends around).

Is it actually going to be on Halloween? If not and it's on the weekend, then maybe one of you could each have one on different days? Then no one would have to choose.

Re: would you be offended/upset?

I'd ask her if she was having it on the same day, and then ask her - why would you throw one after I just mentioned my party (if its on the same day) - are you telling me you dont want to come to mine? (in a joking way...)

Re: would you be offended/upset?

yeah, we were talking about mine and i was like "you guys didnt come last year so you better come this time" and she was like "i know, im sorry, we will... or maybe we should have one since we have a big space"

i htink perhaps she meant a combined party.

who knows. i just wouldnt feel comfy inviting MY friends to her apartment.

it was just a passing thought, i basically planted the idea in her head (not on purpose)

youre right though, maybe a different night.

im having mine ON halloween.

hmmmm. im not mad at her by any means, i just dont want to divide up the guest list as im sure some of you can see.

i guess i just wont worry about it until its all set in stone.

thanks for letting me vent though!

Maybe you could tell her you already invited some additional friends and they are going to your place.
