About buying a home?

Between Mortgage, taxes, laws, etc....

Just curious. I learned SO MUCH in the short time I have been on this forum. I have also read- Buying & selling a House for Dummies (yeah I will admit that) Chat Icon

But, I just feel like it never ends Chat Icon

I keep learning. It changes all the time. Especially when talking real estate (purchases, mortgage loans, etc...).

I didn't. Kevin handled everything!!!! Chat Icon

It's really overwhelming but our RE agent and mortgage broker and lawyer were all really good at explaining things to us every step of the way. By the time we were done, Kevin was ready to teach a class on it!!!

Re: How did everyone learn so much..

The Home Board! I've been nagging the nice ladies and gents here for a year. I also bookmarked a ton of threads I knew I would need later. As I got to each step, I went through my notebook threads.

I also read this a few times, even though it's not specific to our region and seems a little dated, it has good points.

Besides that, I've been driving our friend who is an RE agent and works for a mortgage broker NUTS with questions. And my family. And my friends.

It's like getting married - once you tell someone that you're looking at houses, you get tons of advice. Whether you want it or not.

So true!! When my co-workers found out I was buying a home, forget it they would literally get into fights with each other over who knew more and who was right and wrong, etc..I just sit back, absorb everything and Chat Icon

Reading online articles, message boards, asking friends, and some things we just had to trust "the professionals" and took our chances. LOL

My boss is trying to get me to start flipping houses. I told him that when I make as much money as he does, I'll consider it. Chat Icon

The best is "Where are you looking?" because everyone will have a strong opinion on at least one or more of the neighborhoods you're looking in. But of course, the best neighborhood ever will be the one that they live in. Chat Icon

Learned a lot from this board, friends, family and did a lot of searching on the internet. Of coarse co-workers too had their say. Chat Icon And we keep learning more and more everyday with being homeowners. Now that is fun! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
